Colt Canada rifles to the public?

When Daniel Defense AR's start around $1500...I'm not paying $2200 for a C7...
 
yeah the top rated AR in the world is certainly going to need a lot of justification for possibly being more money
 
I posted this in the general forum

Colt Canada in the commercial market (in Canada) should be and will be welcomed with open arms. I have no problem seeing an end to C7 and C8 clone threads in the "black rifles" section with the addition of threads of the real thing. A great step in a great direction!


edit to add; if any dealers can confirm if and when the FRT numbers become available, it would be greatly appreciated.
 
I wonder if they will make the C8 IUR RCMP version available? Although I'd be happy just to get some of the Colt Canada rifles available. It's about time they sold to the public!

Diemaco and Colt Canada semi auto AR FRTs have been in existence for some time. Years. The company has just not sold them to the public, just LEO and Military sales.

I carried a C7 for 10 years including the C7A2 since 2006 so I am aware that the tri rail is stupid. I just want an armoury accurate C7A2 for the collection. I have other AR's for tactical stuff.

hell i've even taken off the cadex grip, and if i weren't too lazy to pry out the heat shield i'd have pulled the rail off as well.

I'm on more of an NEA budget myself......so I'm looking forward to seeing all of the pictures that the proud new owners of these will post :)

And another Canadian made AR on the commercial market is one more step towards legitimizing the platform as an honest to goodness Canadian sporting rifle.
 
Big fan of lightweight barrels of the full size 20" length, you know the way the AR15/M16 was originally designed for.


I've got Govt profile 20" on now but a pencil 20" in 1/7 would be a thing of beauty.

If the Colt Rep is telling the truth, and the company sticks to this orginal intent, then the price should not be prhobitavely expensive. For sport shooting and practice. As a reservist, I find it hard to justify forking out $3k of my own dough to "practice". I've spent more than that on firearms, but it's for my personal enjoyment, not for work. To me, it sounds like they want to make these things more readily available than the prohibitabely expensive Colt ARs that we see floating around for $2-3k. I know IRUNGUNS started bringing in Colt ARs for $1300 (they had that $200 off LE/MIL promo for a while), but that's not a representation of mainstream retail prices in Canada. I've seen Colt ARs go for $2k on EE all the time, even with the IRUNGUNS promo running.

Maybe I'm living in fantasy land, but from what I can interpret from the words from the rep is that their intent is not to sell a high-priced, collectable precision match-grade rifle with all the bells and whistles that only people in high tax brackets can afford. This is for "Sport shooting" and "Practice". My hope lies in these words that the cost to the end user remains low and affordable.
 
Don't care about price as long as the product is legit. Dont cut corners with commercial specs or add quad rails or some ####. I want a bonafide, non prohib C7 which means the only difference should be the lack of full auto seer hole in the receiver.
