If they offered this version they could "gouge" me all they want, I'd buy one in a second

Lets keep it in Perspective. They have No Choice. If they did.....They would be carrying a DD or KAC

^^ This is the most dumbfounding thing I have read all week... you are really telling an industry expert what the deal is???? and WHO are you?

too much airsofting I think...

Honestly, if i had 2k, i would buy a Tavor instead.

This pricing is just stupid.

I was way mor expecting between 1.2-1.4k

Anyone who thought these would be under $1500 was doing wishful thinking.
Colt Canada clearly does not want everyone to be able to affoard one.
People seem to have such a hate on. I'm guessing mainly because they can't affoard it.
Once unobtanium product now available.... going to cost.
You pay to play folks.
Oh... anyone who says better value in another AR... there's better value in a NR rifle not a range toy.
Ryan at SFRC mentioned he bought one of each. Smart man
Tavors are more than 2k.

The point that flew over the CGN heads was that other than sharing a name (technically the don't since one is Diemaco) they can't be compared.

One is a tier one operators gun and the other is a bulk run Wallmart product.

I gusss the point that eluded was that one is specific to people that require something top end and the other is Norc'ish for people that plink.

The point YOU are missing is the $1000 Price is Across the Board. Not just Walmart. You think COLT is making junk guns just to sell cheap? Produced a cut rate substandard product? LOL
You think they will put the lives of Law Enforcement and Military at Risk? You can't be serious.

COLT is $850 and up in the U.S The higher end models are up in the $1300-$1500 range.

You have to drop this Walmart crap. It was used to promote 'LOW' Pricing. Not that they were a low quality.

Has COLT Canada announced they are Tier 1 Operator Guns? No. Just those that are spending the money are hoping they are.

They could be cheaper versions made with short cuts to sell to civilians.

They don't have to announce it......

Cpls are paid more than the average wage out there if I recall correctly. Base Cpl is 56k a year and maxes up at just under 60k. Should be able to affoard a 2200 AR IMO.

I was slighty optimistic that thy would be priced at 1999 but offer a mil/Leo discount.

They have announced just such.

Don't want to pay the premium? then don't. Plenty of others will.

There are countless examples of other products where either by: diminishing performance returns, nostalgia, niche appeal, or what ever floats your boat -> has a premium price attached. Cars, computers, boats, insert X. Matters not whether *you* agree with it, as it *will* be paid by those who are buying them for the afore mentioned reasons.

Are they overpriced a bit? sure,... but really, in the end who cares.... its still a damn good thing for black rifle ownership rates in Canada.

Hell, many a NR black rifle in Canada commands a premium merely because a few people on a hill decreed its legal "definition", and thus the premium to be paid has little to do with finish / specs or performance of said rifle etc.

Colt Canada is pleased to introduce our first commercial rifles to the Canadian shooting community. We have re-introduced the iconic Diemaco™ brand with two commercial rifles similar to the C7A2 and C8A3 rifles in service with the Canadian Armed Forces. The initial models will be called the SA20 and the SA15.7. Further models and MILSPEC components are planned for release this year.

We will look no further when shopping for BCG's and barrels.
