Colt Canada SA 15.7 and 20 Upgrade Pics

Would an IUR on a 15.7 SA devalue the rifle at all? I would want to sell the original upper from the SA15.7 and don't want to have an AR worth less down the road if I decided I wanted to sell it. To me as long as they are both Canadian made Colt products I would not think there would be any loss of value if anything it should be more valuable IMO.

Well, it is still a mismatched upper to lower. The sa15 is a limited run edition. When they are gone, they are gone. Colt Canada is no longer producing uppers with a front sight block, and are going to a IUR only production.

I think a complete sa15.7 would have more value as a complete rifle. But the IUR on its own would have value as well.

I plan (errrr would like) to get a 15.7 IUR upper as I have the SA 20. When funds allow. Guns are expensive like my other hobbies!

I'm looking to put a C79 on my 15.7 but the rubber cover that's on it now is pretty beat up and the integrated "iron" sights are worn to nubs.
I managed to find a cover that's practically brand new, but does anyone have experience replacing the cover on a C79?? I don't mind cutting to old one off, but it's on their tight and I feel getting the new one on will be pretty difficult.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can send you the C79 maint. manual, PM sent. Here are the steps:

RUBBER COVER

Removal. To remove the rubber cover, proceed as
follows:

a. Pull the objective end of the cover over the
optical housing.

b. Remove the rubber cover.

Replacement. To replace the rubber cover,
proceed as follows:

a. Heat the new rubber cover for 1 hour at 50
degrees Celsius.

b. Insert the eyepiece end of the optical housing
through the square aperture of the rubber
cover and press fit.

c. Pull the objective end of the rubber cover over
the optical housing to complete the assembly.

Cheers

Anyone have a spare C79 kicking around? Lol
I just ordered a SA 20 and a 15.7 IUR. Now I need a scope and fore grip.

You can still buy them from any Elcan dealer, mine should arrive tomorrow actually, with the Armalite green cover (we will see how close it is to the Canadian colour). Will post once it arrives.

Yes brand new, always wanted to see one with clear glass :) Specter OS3.4x (aka C79). It's a dead match for my issue rifle and even the "Armalite green" cover looks the correct colour compared to mine. Only difference is no C79A2 engraved in the mount and the A3 is not painted in white.

Just arrived today, I'll post a mini-review in another thread since it's related to our SA-20's but here it is in the box:

So nice to have the proper reticle and not some weird "civy sanitized / MG version" like we get with the 1-4x.

P.S. My only gripe... a full price quality scope brand new in box... no manual lol.

NOICE! If you do a review, please post it here, or at least a link to it here. Any chance you can PM me how much you paid and if you took advantage of any IOP on it? I know there is one, but the last time I checked, it was beyond my means and the wife told me I'd be sleeping in the yard if she saw a bill for it.

I think a complete sa15.7 would have more value as a complete rifle. But the IUR on its own would have value as well.

This would be my take on this situation, the original combination would be worth more. As Fenceline states the SA15.7 is listed as a 30th anniversary limited edition #1 of #490 rifles being sold on Colt Canada's site with no more production available ever.

Cheers D
