Colt Canada

Whoa, might want to abbreviate that handle... And no Colt Canada is very anti-gun and will never sell to civies directly.

Has anyone ever tried to pull something with Colt Canada like what that guy did with HK? You know, claim their going to sell the guns to law enforcement officials, then just end up selling them to civies?

Colt Canada does make guns for civvies, it is called the 6721 Tactical Carbine. The new models are made in Kitchener and are so marked on the lower receiver, they are however next to impossible to get into Canada given the current climate though US civvies are able to own them.

**or it could be the 6520**

Lovely!
A company that feels all sorts of superior, becuase they dont sell to civvies that want to shoot paper, yet they sell military weapons for killing humans.
Then they do make something available to civvies, but only to foreign countries.

I wonder how many goofy third world armies are equiped with HK products?

Colt Canada guns are considered made in the USA -- as such they require end users for their sale into Canada
- Currently their license allows them to sell to the CF, RCMP, Provincial and Municpal LEA's and to Foreing Governments.

Frankly if they could sell to civilians in Canada -- they would make a FORTUNE

One question...... after Colt took over Diemaco and becomes Colt Canada, did CC still cold-hammer-forged their products' barrels or switched to cheaper button-rifled ones?

Colt Drop Forges their barrels -- Diemaco Cold hammer forges.

The Canadian Gov't owns the barrel machines (or did)

and FWIW in large scale production Cold Hammer Forging is also cheaper.

That is bizzarre:confused:

But if it is so, I guess I owe CC an apology!

Man I had a scathing reply to your original post, good thing I saw this post. As Kevin said there is a whole transference of US technology involved. In my conversations with the CC guys, they would have no problems selling to civves, the simply cannot.

but you are saying that there are guns in the USA built by CC, that civies own? which means someone like Questar could get them from dealers in the USA maybe?

Yes -- however the US has been death on Exporting Colt guns for whatever reasons.

So when some ar's say for law enforcement, government/ military and export use only... its the same deal, but just exported from Canada for civvie use in the states?

I have to admit that if I had a choice between what's out there now and a CC civvy AR, I'd pay the extra for the CC even if it was a few hundred bucks. If you're listening CC that would be pure profit on each gun!!!!

So is CC's barrels will not be as good as Diemaco's ones?

My understanding is that hammer forged barrels require more expensive tooling, but produce a better finished product at a lower per unit price.
