Get a used one on the EE. Colt has lost it's civilian market when it comes to handguns. It's hard to get one even in the US.

they are hard to get, but you can order one if you are willing to wait. call colt. this is what i did and they will tell you what you need to do.

there is one Colt Commander for sale in EE section, manufactured in 1973 and is one of the rare satin nickel matte variants
not long ago I saw one for sale also with blued finish

You know it went to a good home when you never see it up for sale. I have sold a few of those.

I have one set up for Single Stack IPSC and it works very well.

The slightly reduced sight radius is offset by how quickly it points coming up out of the holster. The lighter weight (compared to a 1911) means slightly more felt recoil and flip, but adds to the pointability. The shorter slide means faster cycle times and when properly sprung, the front sight returns to target very nicely.

My preference if involved in a ballistic event would be something made of polymer and metal and pre bill C68 magazine capacity ;-)
