Colt SAA collection complete!

Awesome SAA collection! :cool:

All I've got is a 1961 mfg 2nd gen SAA in .357 Mag.

Yes, it was the first thing I did. I obtained letters for the 1st and 2nd gen, which really completes the set nicely. I also picked up a copy of the "Colt Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers" book by John Kopec. An absolute must for any SAA collector!

Always glad to see pictures of SAA's. You should consider a Colt Archives letter on the 1st gen revolver it could prove very interesting.
 
OP more info about the 1st Gen model please!!

Such as year of manufacture, any inspector cartouches, that sort of thing.

It looks about old enough to have served with the US Army in the late 1800's.

I've started to collect info on it and so far know that it was manufactured in 1877 and inspected by John T Cleveland. It was sold to the US Government, so I can only imagine the history/stories of the gun!

Nice!

It definitely served during the Indian Wars and may have even seen service in the Philippine Insurrection.

The stories that gun could tell, given the chance and a tongue........
