I have a chance at a nice example of the above. What would be the value, or at least a reasonable price to pay for one?

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

That is the first pistol I ever bought I paid $50 bucks for it that was 57 years ago From what I have seen a good one goes for about $600 .

I had one back in the 70s; wish I had kept it. Out of the box the trigger was not very good, but when I stripped it there was a small pile of filings inside. After cleaning it sure felt different.

A little while back, I took advantage of an 'opportunity' to acquire four decent quality .22 target pistols. One of the four is a 4 1/2" series 3 Colt Match Target. Since then I was also able to pick up a spare mag for it. Condition I would estimate to be 95% + and if I was going to sell it, I'd be looking at listing it in the $800.oo + range. However, ;) while the day to 'start' thinning things out may be approaching, ;) it's not here just yet.

Johnn: I know only too well the meaning of your last sentence. I have only skirted the idea a couple of times, and it horrifies me.:p

Guess I'm not aging gracefully, ;) or so I've been told. It's taken me a lot of years to accumulate many of the items I've yearned for, now I have to think of down sizing. :( It's not going down well.

the series 2 is the one with the push button mag release, where as the 1 st series and 3rd has the heal release on the mags
the 4 1/2 inch is less common than the 6 inch, so to a collector worth more
The first series is super rare.
I would think that what you have is in the 1200.oo + range, way more in the states.
The last one I had was about 75%, no box or papers, I think I sold it for 800.oo, that was a 6 inch.
I sold a mint Hi Standard Victor years ago in 4 1/2 in for 750.oo when the price for the way more common 5 1/2 inch was selling in 450-500.oo range
I love short guns, BTW, I can see the sights way better when they are close.
My scores are as a rule better with a 3 or 4 in versa a 6 in gun.

That's a nice second series 6"bbl Dan. I believe those to be Roper grips. In the USA those grips alone are going for 200-300USD.

I was thinking herretts as well, I have had, and seen a few sets of these at the gun shows, for 41's, colts, Hi standard, etc and you can't hardly give them away Guess it is the "got to be original" thing these days, hence the high prices for orig. s-w, colt grips. But than again ,I just spent a stupid amount of money for walnut grips for my HK P7 gun, but black on black just don't cut it

Yeah, me too. I have the originals, but these are very comfortable to use. I tend to buy all the Herretts and Ropers I come across. - dan
