Combat kneeling position.

Hey Longshot,
I forwarded that excellent photo to some guys on the team who felt the same way about the standard kneeling position.

Pulling the back of the mag into the knee sure tightens up the position and eliminates the horizontal drifting. thnx

My left arm which you can't see in the pic runs down my left leg keeping everthing tight.Left hand grips around the mag well and pulls everything in.
I stretch enough that I can sit on my foot which adds to the stability.
Something else that will help you is if you choke up on the grip and getting your trigger finger as far onto the trigger as possible. This will give you a smoother stronger squeeze
and hopefully help keep you in that subconcious zone.I choke up on the grip enough that the finger next to my pinky sits on top of the bump that normally keeps that finger lower on the grip.
Hope it help and let us know how you do on your qual.

Everyone on the team noticed your left foot. It seems to create a more stable base, but I have to rotate mine the other way. I'd prefer your way, but it puts a bit too much pressure on my ACL.

I have one important question......

I seem to have to cant the weapon away from me by about 10 degrees to get the best sight picture/cheekweld. Our weapons are zeroed for 100m so it is easy to offset the cant.......

Have you ever noticed this ^^^?

You mean my right foot that I'm sitting on?Anyone can achieve this by simply doing it for 5 minutes a night in front of the TV.
Also the type of boots you are wearing makes a difference.Softer boots work better than super stiff leather.Once you have it down
keep stretching by rolling your heel away from your butt so that you are sitting on the inside of your foot.
As for the canting I haven't noticed it myself but it may have something to do with stock length or perhaps the position of you front leg?
Not sure about that one.Ill have to do some experimenting!

Thanks. I only need to cant while using a cheekweld. We use eotechs, so no real need to get a cheekweld, and so no need to cant either. The position just felt a bit tighter that way.

Longshot, you were right, I meant your right foot. That pic makes for a excellent screen saver. :)

lol

Well the terrorist-sized target we use for quals is well and truly dead. My new kneeling was as accurate as my prone, and nearly as fast (I shoot prone pretty fast). No horizontal string from kneeling, just a nice round grouping of 75+ 5.56 in CM.

Who would have thought that the internet would be a good way to pass along information?
The interwebs is finally pulling it's weight.

But seriously gentlemen, (Whitney Houston song plays in background) thnx for the general principle info, and the minute details that make up the position.

I am now passing that same info on to my teammates, and they are catching on to the tech.

All joking aside, thanks for your hard-earned knowledge on this matter.

I'd say this is a pretty textbook position ;)

I'd hit it.
