just got my shipment of 147gr. I will Chrony it and bench it. It is not as hot as factory, but will make minor without any problems. I heard the 124gr is pretty accurate as well. I will report back tomorrow night. Might have a picture or two.

shot 350rds today. No malfunctions, accurate enough. A little hotter than what i wanted, but that is being changed for next order. 137.2 pf out of an HK USP with 4.25in barrel. (about 6-7 pf less than factory) About 5 pf lower would be a bit more to my liking.
Other than that it was fine.

just reviewed some CED chrony info on this ammo. Recorded a standard deviation of only 4.6 (I am no expert, but that is pretty consistant)

I just picked up a group buy of 20,000 rounds from BDX(45ACP, 40, 9mm and 38) and I am very pleased with how this ammo is performing. The 45 and 9 is extremely accurate and very clean to shoot. Others are reporting similar results from the .40. (no range report on the 38 yet)

For range/practice ammo this is one of the best deals going so I'd highly recommend you guys get in contact with BDX/Combatmasters and try some of this ammo.

Cheers...

I'm using the Combat Master Ammo exclusively this year for all my practice and match ipsc shooting. The 40 S&W is great! Clean and reliable and very good chrono results.

Enjoy the ammo guys!

That is very similar to the factory rds i use. I had a PF of 136 last year.

Factory Winchester WWB 147 GR. Just ordered a few thousand rds for this year...

Didn't realize this was plated until I very closely examined the bullet. Not sure what people think of this, but apparently the projectiles are "X-Treme Bullets", or West coast bullets.
Anyone have any info on these projectiles?

Update; During testing of this ammo,I noted the quality and consistancy are excellent, and I stick by that
However, I was hesistant as I have used plated before, and had problems with Key-hole or tumbling rounds. I fired some at first and did not notice this at all. Perhaps a really good barrel cleaning would help, but at a match this weekend, approx 2/3rds of the bullets were tumbling, or key-holed into the target. Even at close distances.
POlygonal barrels do not like plated projectiles. I was hoping that this would not happen, but I'm going to have to self off the remainder of what I have not used.

I too have the Combat Masters 124g 9mm and they are Montana 124g CMJ bullets. He usually uses Montana for the ammo, which I have found to be very accurate, clean and reliable. You are sure they are plated? Even so, the good thing with his line of West Coast(X-Treme) is that the plate is much heavier than other plated, AND the bullets are double swaged ensuring consistent diameter/wt. Having looked into this, I checked with the US guys using this supplier and they are more than pleased as it has no evidence of cracking or burning off under speed. X-Treme has stated that these bullets will easily handle velocites of 1400fps-1600fps+ without any structural deterioration, with some chaps reporting even higher. I use them in my Glocks(9mm, 40) and 357's and have no problem at all and haven't had a case of tumbling or keyholing yet.
I will use these exclusivly now instead of lead or higher price jacketed.
just my opinion.

I contacted X-treme bullets myself, and they replied that their plated bullets are not meant to be used in pistols with polygonal barrels.
The ammunition I got is made with projectiles that are 147gr West Coast/Xtreme.
Montana Gold would have worked awesome, as I have used these before.
Sucks to be me, but I have sold one case so far.

In the cdnbdx 9mm I ordered, I've found two cases which had a part of the case wall crushed down during bullet seating. Other than that, I've been very happy with both the 9mm and the .40.

Maurice, thnx for the info re polygonal barrels from the manf. I was not aware of this altho it has not presented a problem to this point.
Cheers

I originally hailed this stuff (1000 rounds of lead free 180gr/40 S&W, bought for my black badge) as it functioned flawlessly during the course (~450 rounds down range).

I have since had an 'about turn' with approximately a dozen or so primer struck, fail to fires -both at a match (about 4) and during practice. Also, lots of instances of failures of return to battery due to bullets getting set back into the case. This was my first purchase of this ammo, and I seriously doubt I will purchase more.
