Comments of 260 Remington Cailber

Getting back to the 260 Rem it is probably the only cartridge design of the 308 parent case that I would own...

the rest are pitiful anemic wastes of time... :p

The difference between the 7mm-08 and 260 Rem is small change, at best. But wait, the 7x57 was here 100 years before. The 6.5x55 has more pizazz than the 260 Remington. Funny thing, it was invented 100 years ago too. Not much new under the ballistic sun.
New cartridges are made to sell rifles to people who are bored with those cartridges that are currently available. Good on you, if you need 'em.

Also modern 308-based cartridges are way more accuracy than the previous cartridge that they replace. That was a huge reason in the success of 7mm-08 Rem and 260 Rem as rifle silouhette rounds. Even 243 Win is more accurate than 244/6mm Rem because it work in a short action.

Pie are ROUND , cake are SQUARE!!!

That is why you may have ballistics issues.:p

Are you folks still arguing about this .260 thing???

We need to start a new thread, who can't harvest a game animal with a .260, that'll cause a stir!

Don't know about all this pie are square and cakes are round stuff.
Load'em up, put the cross hairs where they belong and booooom drt.
Funny with the Gatehouse character...................
I just zip right by his posts as there is waaaaay too much hostility there.
Seems the chap/chaperette likes to argue up/down no matter if the sky is blue
today.
Yep Gatehouse, I'm refering to you.
Have at'er..........

This I have to disagree with, this to me is again a case of............. it's not the arrow it's the indian.

Guys are shooting all kinds of chamberings in competition, .308 is still accurate with the right driver, no more or no less than other cartridges.

Yes they're accurate but no more or less than others. There are a few reasons these cartridges rise above in silhouette. Mainly the rules for "hunting rifle" class.-Cartridge has to be factory available and minimum 6mm
Rifle w/scope can not weigh more than 9 lbs. (short action preference)

Shooting 40 rd matches off hand, one wants minimal recoil, however enough energy at 500 metres to knock over the rams.

A good availability of reloading components.

The 260, 7-08 fit this bill well. The 308 is a bit of a boomer, the 243 a bit of a wimp.

Distances are known, targets are "large", but accuracy, flat trajectory might give you that 1 extra winning hit by the end of a match.

sooo......the 260 works good then? good. i'm glad everyone agrees, yup 260 good cartridge.

so that's that then?
