Comp for 9mm pcc

I run a Q Cherry bomb in my SPC to add a bit of weight in the 18” so far maybe because it already have a progressive hydraulic buffer it’s shooting super soft compared to my FX9 with very little gas coming back IMG_3451.jpegIMG_3448.jpeg

I don't think the SPC9 and the FX9 could be more polar opposite, lol. The B&T is high quality, with a properly tuned recoil system and hydraulic buffer, whereas the FX9 is cheap and sloppy with not enough buffer weight, or spring, or both. Every time I RO someone shooting an FX9 I have to stand behind them so I don't get peppered with all the junk coming out of the ejection port with every shot.

The soft shooting feel of your B&T likely has a lot more to do with the hydraulic buffer than the brake designed to work with a suppressor.

Will this work in a Raven 9?
The short answer is no. The long answer is yes (bolt requires hollowing out) and there might be some shimming required. We will find out soon. I think Scotty and I some how contacted rdsc at the same time about these (I thought I was the one that got the ball rolling 7 weeks ago hah).

So yeah we will see what's all required shortly.

what do you guys use to clean off caked on carbon on the muzzle brake? I tried soaking mine in hoppes but it's still pretty baked on

I got my FX9 to work as best as it can get my only issue with the FX 9 after all the mods done is it does not like reload ammo and excessive gas, hence the upgrade to my GHM9, APC-9 and eventually to the SPC-9. To recap the cost associated in the process of making the FX9 work as well as it does now I probably could have just got the SPC-9 but then again this was like 5 years ago when I did the mods to the FX9

...What could you possibly have done to an FX9 that would even come close to the cost of a B&T? 😂 😂

different buffers set up, triggers, ammo, barrel length. it all add up
It's a rabbit hole that has no bottom. In the end, if you compete those last few seconds faster you are, are very expensive seconds. Personally, I am still stuck at the bottom of Marksman in IDPA PCC with an FX9 and a Raven9 bbbbbbuuuuttt if I buy a B&T maybe I'll make Master ......naw I have a better chance of walking on water. Lol.

Take Care
Bob
Ps presently about to replace my Raven's barrel and forearm and buffer and trigger and......

Uuuuuuunfortunate. lol

But on a positive note- the Maxim roller delayed buffer made a HUGE difference. Felt recoil was very noticeably different. Much less, but also different recoil, it felt like the recoil impulse duration was extended a bit. Much less sharp. I had an Armaspec Stealth buffer in it before, and the recoil was typical PCC; sort of sharp, little violent. Now mag dumps on target with minimal dot movement are pretty effortless. No buyers remorse for me!

Actually I got feed back at a lvl 3 IPSC match here from the Chrono team. My FX9 shot smoother and softer than all the other pcc's at the match.. including Clarence Ye's B&T (he finished 2nd at pcc nationals this year).
Kynshot hydraulic buffer, strikefire AR10 carbine flatwire recoil spring, and a homemade 3oz stainless steel buffer spacer shooting FH Munitions 124gr ....smooth as butter.

I have been thinking about picking up a Maxim to play around with.

What did you put yours in? FX9? I have heard multiple people say that the Raven needs the bolt drilled out but does the FX9 need any mods to be compatible with the Maxim?

T'was not a Raven or an FX9 (Not an AR either). Can't help you as far as compatibility with either of those guns.
