For hunting, or range use, or what ?
The NF is 2.5-10x24/32, not 2.5-8. Great optic, one of my all time favorites.
Sorry, guess I should have noted that! It will be used for hunting. Want to be able to make shots out to 300-400 yds. Thanks! To everyone who suggested Leupolds, I already have a couple of them VX111, and a Mark 4, want something different.

I've got both and they are really different animals.
Perhaps you could be more specific about your criteria/utilization and I could offer more insight.[/QUOT
Hunting, with shots out to 400 yards with my 7X57.
Then the Trijicon 1-4X isn't the best choice. It has a very simple reticle (green triangle on black post) that offers no indicators(MOA/ Mildot/other). While the scope's optics are very clear, have good light gathering abilities, and offers exceptionally quick sight acquisition (I have on my AR and I daresay it's as quick as a red dot), the green (or other color) triangle on the reticle is too big for distant targets.
Get the Nightforce and a reticle with indicators that you like. It offers more when shooting at distance (finer reticle, indicators, and better magnification) and the 2.5X is still adequate for obtaining a rapid sight picture if you need it. This is the optic I currently have on my Steyr Scout .308 and I would consider it's maximum *practical* range to be 500m.
