Confirm a recommendations for g96 solvent?

Butches Bore shine for regular work. KG1/KG12 for heavy duty carbon/copper removal.
One-piece coated steel rod for cleaning. No aluminum rods in my rifles, ever.
Use a bore guide religiously and always clean from the breech if at all possible. D.

I don't think you need to worry about "neutralizing" any bore solvent, but it probably wouldn't hurt to run an oiled patch through the bore to protect against corrsoion.

You don't want to leave ammonia based solvents like Barnes cr-10 in the bore. They do a good job cleaning but will attract water to the bore if not neutralized afterwards.

So to sum it up, it's good stuff and I should just use it as is.

No need to neutralize the jag or patch holder or brush or barrel?

I only use it inside the barrels, with soaked patch, not soaking directly with it. Very effective ! When done cleaning, I pass dry patch, then use Hope's 9 oil for storage.

G96 does a great job and awards your good work with a most pleasant fragrance.

It so damn good you can use it as aftershave too. Prepped as such, trips to the bar will be blessed with more ladies than your small gun can service. Warning: it may fool and attract inebriated gunnies as well. Caution is advised to prevent the reaming of your bore.

I use G96 as a light duty bore solvent.

For real bore cleaning I use something a lot more aggressive, like Hoppes Benchrest Copper cutter, Sweets or Wipe Out.

After using an aggressive cleaner I run through a dry patch and then an oil. Store muzzle down so crap does not run pack into the action.

I use equal parts of Mobil1 Syn 0W30, Castrol Transmax ATF, clear kerosene and mineral spirits. Use it on my handguns and rifles. Mix it in a spray bottle, 'bout 10 bucks a litre. Works and smells great!

Why has G96 shot up in price so much?

Pretty close. Here's an article from the "Original Joe"...... http://handloads.com/articles/default.asp?id=9

Pretty much duplicates the original Frankford Arsenal No. 18 solvent, and one batch will last most guys for many years.

Love G96...and the smell is fantastic. I think I read one of the Nutz even used it as deodorant in a pinch.

Didn't have cologne in the truck and went out right after work. A spray across the clean shirt I keep in the truck worked. My lady friends at the bar loved it
My wife likes the smell so much I can clean my guns in any room of the house
