Continuation of "Non-Restricted ACR Blues"

Just wondering, I am thinking about getting an ACR with a NR pencil barrel. Is there anyone who can make a good one without selling my kidney?

Herron Arms in Ontario has made me a few barrels for Swiss Arms rifles, and I know they were one of the first to make a non-res ACR barrel, well before Questar had them. They also made a bunch of barrels for FS2000s back when Kodiak Outpost was around. Great company to deal with and they stand behind what they make. Period.

Wasn't it Questar that charged people $4000 for the PS90, then the price dropped by half?

Ya and I bought two at 4k then they dropped the price a few months later. I was pissed. I had continued to do business with them though cause some stuff they carry nobody else does. But for stuff that other businesses carry I won't buy from them anymore.

I think if Questar knows that they have no choice here but to accept fault and submit that what I have posted is truth. This will obviously loose them business. By staying silent, they loose some business I'm sure but there will still be people that will not believe what I have posted and continue to conduct business with them.

All I can say to those that would continue to support this company is that I hope you never have to deal with a substandard product shipped out by them. You will be left alone to deal with it like I was.

This is the biggest form of disrespect, and utter lack of the ability to take responsibility for a serious mistake.
Sickening.
Time and time again you see dealers doing this on this site... Seemingly uninhibited.

After a number of PM's asking who the gunsmith that fixed Questar's abortion of a barrel, I've decided (with his permission) to publicly give credit to Herron Arms for diagnosing and fixing the problem that Questar said didn't exist.

No surprise there. Herron seems to be the go-to guy for this type of thing. It's nice to know that someone knows what they are doing.

Oh, I'm sure it was all your, Gravel's and Herron's imagination that there was something wrong with it...

Is there anyone currently selling or able to make NR ACR barrels? I'm poking around with the idea of buying an ACR but only in the event that I can make it NR, even if it meant waiting a while.

I have done business with Questar, to my complete satisfaction.
The OP has accused a named individual of being a liar, etc, etc.
I don't personally know the OP.
I do personally know the named individual.
Based on my own experience, I am able reach my own conclusions about integrity and veracity.

I have a feeling the 1st bolded sentence, has everything to do with the 2nd bolded sentence...

Partially because of threads like this, and because of the "PAL required for parts purchases" thing, I have not, nor will ever, deal with Questar.

my 2 coppers...

Ian will be able to do this for you at the specs of your liking. I'd suggest an 18.5" barrel with an integrated flash hider, that way you can keep the total length as short and legal as possible. But if you want to be able to switch around FH and or muzzle brakes, than that wouldn't be necessary obviously.

The whole process doesn't take that long - at least not by the definition of "waiting a while".

He has his own section in the Manufacturers-Gunsmith section too.

The issue with trying to do an integral flash hider on the ACR barrel is that the gas block is quite narrow. The muzzle would need to be small enough to slip the block over. Don't think it would be feasible.
