Convince me, why

First off the AR308 rifles are built heavier and tend to be the flagship rifles of the respective companies. So you tend to get an overall better product with their 308 offering over the 223 ones.

Second of all. They shoot .5 moa with match ammo. Overall the 308 has the advantage with wind. Let's fact it how many days have you gone to the range and had the perfect almost no wind range trip?

One other factor, shooting the 308 version is just different. You can't explain it you have to shoot it. The 308 in the AR really does feel right. Its a cool rifle to shoot.

Of the rifles I own my 308ARs are my favourites.

The OP mentions 3K as the amount. I'm going to say this is in reference to the LMT MWS. That would be with the CL barrel. The rifle will really shine with the SS barrel. All of my 308AR rifles have SS barrels on them, including the LMT MWS. It's a shame to not have one on a rifle capable of shooting with a tactical bolt action rifle.

How about that the AR was originally designed for .308? My next rifle is going to be a .308 AR.

I've come to realize that for me, choosing a NR .308 black rifle means choosing a rifle that is inferior to the AR when I only shoot at a range anyways. Depends on where you shoot I guess, but I'm leaning hard towards the LMT LM8, when the time comes.

Bring that STG44 replica of yours and I'm sure we can work out a test before you decide on which 308AR to buy. The LMT for example. The handguards on the regular one are thinner than many as is. I'm not so sure I would go with the LM8.

this.

my LMT MWS 308 is a tack driver. if there was any one rifle in my collection i would never let go, it would be that one.

I think that we can work something out! I am a member of Agassiz, but I could meet at another range.

For the simple fact that it can easily be converted to different caliber, the Desert Tactical Arms SRS would be my first choice as well.

Only problem is that he said $3000 and my DTA SRS in 338Lapua was over $7000 plus glass. A little beyond what he was looking to spend.

To the OP.
Because an AR10 is the baddest mofo in town and every Liberal gets a :kickInTheNuts: every time someone buys one.
And it makes bigger holes in paper and zombies.

Sweet baby batman! You mean to say the price shot up by $4,000 from the base model ($3,000)?!!

Sweet looking rig no matter what.

The price on DTA website is for the chassis only. You still need to pick and pay for a caliber kit.
Plus just like all other firearms we pay more in Canada than the US does for the same gun.

The $7000 was also for the full deployment kit which includes the bag/shooting mat, 2 mags, cleaning kit including a nice one piece rod, sling, bipod and scope mount, and probably some other stuff I can't remember.
Plus I shot a 0.72" 3 shot group at 300yds with factory hornady 250gr ammo the first day out with it off the bench. That alone makes it worth the money. :)

Those Desert tactical rifles are very nice but....

They are still bolt action rifles. Very nice bolt action rifles but still not semi auto precision.

Ahh I see. Math didn't add up, but with all of the extras it makes alot more sense. If I had $7,000 for a precision bolt rifle, that is caliber intechangeble and of high quality, the DTA and the Nemesis would be the only two option I'd consider. Mind you one is bullpup and the other a conventional bolt, but their features are quite comparable.

Congrats !

That's an oversized charging handle ;)

Is that what you told yourself after your last date? :p

Reminds me of the trailer park boys episode where Cory and Trevor pick up the only two "women" at the trailer bar they just opened. The following day conversation... If someone did something to you but you didn't do it back it's ok right? I didn't do anything did you? No.

Again those are nice Desert Tactical rifles but in a 308AR thread Im afraid from here on out they will be referred to (in the time honoured tradition of naming rifles) as Lolla and Rue Paul. :)

Good one :)

A 308 AR was going to be my next AR until I saw the PWS 10" in 300 blackout that blaxsun was selling. Guess who has a new upper in the mail:) his sales techniques are hard to resist. These aren't the droids your looking for.

get a non restricted

AR rifles are worth owning even as restricted. As for semi auto 308 precision, the non restricteds don't even come close in terms of accuracy.

I own both restricted and non restricted semi auto 30 cal. I don't regret buying my 308AR rifles one bit.
