Cooey Military 82 Collectors Group

Late to the game, sorry ‘bout reviving an old thread, but bringing my 82.
Requested access to the FB group.

Not sure of its origin, but when my father gave it to me as my first rifle, he said it was an old cadet training rifle. If true, probably would have come from the Clinton / Huron County area (home of the radar).
Has a number stamped in the bottom of the grip, and what I believe is the C arrow stamped on the bolt handle. Also have a stock extension, but can’t guarantee it came with the rifle.

Thanks for posting the pics. The stock is likely original, but has been reworked a lot and the pistol grip area. I hope you’re getting a lot of enjoyment from it. Just a little tip. - the hooks on the sling should be reversed and face away from the wood. Doing this is the correct military way to put the sling on and will keep the sling from scratching the furniture.

The whole sling just flip 180*? Got it, thanks!

Haven’t used it in a long time. But just inherited a bunch of rifles that I hope to bring back to life and shoot more in retirement.
Also hoping to make a replica peep sight for it.

Never knew this thread existed until it was bumped out of the bone yard.

This one is in my possession.

Be curious to know what the pistol grib number stands for?

If you’re going to make some peep sights, make a few of them. They are very hard to find.

Nice! That appears to be the correct peep sight. The number system is a factory tracking number and may have been used as afack number when issued to various units. Have fun with it.
Scary frick’in accurate.

One thing that needs to be mentioned, well at least with this one’eer, 490 per second bullts don’t come out the muzzle.

Only 22rf I own and there are many that display this attitude.
