Cooey. Which one is the best?

I love my model 39 single shot. Very light and short. Shoots well and i remember when i was a younger any time my parents would go out id get it from my dads closet and shoot a few rounds off the deck. So i have memories of it since i was 10.

I also have a model 75 witch is the same as the 39 but longer barrel and a target looking stock. It shoots with the iron sights 3 in groups at 100m using 10 rounds of 22 shorts. The 39 shoots as well but short sight radius so its better for closer distances.

I take my model 39 with me any time i go in the woods. And reliable? Its a single shot 22 with 4 parts lol. Probably the deffinition of reliable.

My 64a was my first smokeless rifle and a gift from my great Uncle who pulled it out of his closet and said "I got it for free and so will you", it hasn't been the most reliable rifle (see over tightening the action so no mag will feed) but it's surprisingly accurate and won me my first shooting prize. It comes out to the range every time I do! Definitely my favourite Cooey and a rifle that'll stay with my for life!

Model 60 was the first 'real' gun I ever shot, so had to get one a few years ago just for nostalgia sake. Can't say it's the best, as I don't have any others to compare. Always liked the 64 as a kid, but when I was buying my first semi-auto, I went for 10/22.

My Model 64 semi LR is a gr8t all round gun fun to shoot and taught all my kids to shoot it, the Model 75 single shot sl also a great gun and very accurate and the one I learned to shoot on, the Model 84 12-gauge is my favorite as hung in nearly all homes in early Saskatchewan nobody wanted to shoot it as has a horrible kick.

^^ i have a cooey model 84 in 12 and 16 gauge. Your correct about them kicking like a mule lol. The 12 has both an 18" and 28" barrel depending on what im shooting.

You can't go wrong with a 39 or 75. I have the 39 my grandfather purchased in the early 60's and its as accurate as it it was then.

I've had one of the larger 75s and it was accurate...just huge for a .22 though. I picked-up an old model 39 a couple of years back and it's a sweetie. I don't think I shoot it that well (aging eyes/small sights?) but I like it just the same. I've contemplated scoping it...but just can't bring myself to mess with it. Probably the most simple 22 ever made, nothing not to like.

I have an old 39 that I carried around as a kid that was handed down to me,my grand father and my dad and I used it on the trapline for as long as I can remember winter summer fall and it never let us down and it was kicked around for sure still like the day it was built.I just refinished the stock and blued it...tougher than a 2 dollar steak that gun...lots of good memories.

Which cooey is the most accurate? The most fun? The most reliable? The most memories . Which is your favorite and why ? :)

I've always called him Pappy, and I'm not sure which model he is ( . I know he enjoy's riding his Harley and doing things with the animals, like dressing up as Santa for Christmas pics with them.

He does have a grey beard and a rolly belly, but he does eat venison (and gator when I can get it). If I called him he would answer, but is getting a little slower in his age and doesn't have a cell phone.

All kidding aside, If I can find a picture (we lost a ton in the House fire in '11) I will post it of the Grandson (or Great Grandson, my memory is going also) of Cooey

My model 82 was my first of many Cooeys I have owned, but love it the best. Solid full wood stock, was an unused military trainer , still had grease in it when I got it, was supposedly never fired. But I have shot it and it is very accurate!

I have a Model 39 and a Model 60 but the 3rd one is the winner..... Model 82!

mine, from how the story goes, came by way of my grandfather.
he went off to WWII and at some point he picked up one of the trainer rifles.
once back from the war he never again had the urge to fire a gun, so the rifle sat in a closet for years until my dad came along and was given the gun when he was in his early teens. he shot the gun up until 2 years ago when he gave it to me.

i gave it a massive cleaning which took me 2 days to do.
gun had probably never been cleaned other then a couple shots of WD40 once in a while.

the gun has always been scary accurate.
i have fond memories of my dad shooting that gun every weekend when we went out into the fields to thin out the gopher populations.

think i have a pick of it in my photo bucket, i shall go look.

Have owned a bunch of Cooeys in various models. My Fav (sentimentality) is the first...an old 64. Hated it for the first couple years I owned it, until a local 'ol timer set me straight. Loved it since, and hopefully my own progeny will love it for another generation.

Most accurate one I owned would have been an old 75 whale-belly with a matchbook cover wedged under rear sight instead of a ramp. Possibly the most accurate rimfire to pass through here (of over 100). Life of few regrets, I regret passing it along.

Would love to own a 35 for the rarity (not the engineering prowess behind it), and that would give it fav. status.

I've got a few 60's a 64b an 82 and a 39.

The one that groups best of all of them after trying many different kinds of ammo in all of them, is one of the 60's, 2nd best is the 64 not the other 60

The short barrel on the 39 really makes a difference and the others all out-shoot it.
