18 1/2 in. barrel , less than 10 lbs.

Thanks guys. Dremel - best tool invented.
This set up allows me to fully free float from the receiver , or bolt the AKM op rod guide to the stock.
Waiting for the hot weather to see which system has the least hot barrel P.O.I. shift.
Because its a short barrel with less whip I am expecting fully free float will work best. We'll see-----

Free Float - dont think so -

Sat. was warm enough to keep the barrel hot between mag changes, but I ended up single loading as fast as I could to generate more heat.
Free float sux - cold groups were larger than op rod guide bolted to stock, hot groups were ridiculous.
Barney - I beg to differ - my experience shows the SAGE system of free floating from the op rod guide is superior to the 5 lbs. to 40 lbs. or whatever ferrule lip pressure of the U.S. army And Gyrene findings. They didnt have the Sage system back then to compare (or the shorty stiffy barrel) -----

We all should consider adding to a Canadian M14 Military Rifle site. Since Canada has more private real military M14 rifles than anywhere else. We also received more of the collectable accessories from Israel than they did. Now they are no longer available from Israel because of new US state dept rules. For example: I have 6 original Israeli contract Leatherwood 3x9 ART M14 rifle scopes. These scope mounts are not steel like the America models but aluminum. They are also marked with the Israeli military catalog number.
