Really? I thought Alberta allowed .223 for deer. They allow it in Saskatchewan as of last year. They took away pistol calibers and added the smaller rifle rounds. Super fair trade.

Ya it's still a no go in AB. This is from the 2019 AB hunting regs

"...set out, use or employ any of the following items for the purpose of hunting big game:
ammunition of less than .23 calibre"

Pretty sure they switched to 556 in like the second production run. they've since changed the BCG design as well from magnetic to a screw in charging handle as many people were seeing the inside of their receivers being chewed up by the magnetic one flopping around and digging in to the soft aluminum. That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head.

Is that what that is ? Mine started getting chewed up . Is there anything I can do with that ?

Unfortunately the are not much help with this issue. They told me it was just "cosmetic" and therefore not covered by warranty.

I think that Kodiak is a great looking piece. Are they reliable? Also, I'm assuming they can fire a real 5.56 NATO round. I believe that the 5.56 tends to generate more pressure than a .223, and it sort of worries me when I see the two listed together as if they're totally interchangeable. I'm not sure they are.

But I like some of the other non-restricted mentioned as well. The Springfield M1A and the M1 Garand are both way up at the top of my list of guns I want to own.

It's an 18.6" Maple Ridge Armory barrel with a mid length gas system. The longer OP rod was made for me by Range Warrior Accessories.

Only looks longer than it actually is because of the short handguard.

The new rear-charging version has just been released by Kodiak.
So I doubt this side-charging model will be around much longer.
