Coonan .357

I'd really like to get one but would like to hold one first. I have large hands (palms) but my fingers are kinda short. Usually I have issues reaching the mag or slide release but not the trigger - maybe it's just my thumb that is short. This is an issue I have to overcome with my competitive pistols as I don't like to change my hand position. This Coonan won't be for competition so as long as I can reach the trigger properly....

How many rounds so far? I've heard these pistols don't wear well. Whatever that means. They wear out faster than say, an STI? Have you noticed any accelerated wear relative to rounds fired?

I've put about 1500 rounds (a case and a 1/2) through this thing with no issues.
And no sign of wear.

I love mine. I paid $1800 or so IIRC. It was just before prices went high. I would spend a couple hundred more but not sure how much higher I would go than that. It is an accurate gun and the trigger is the nicest I've ever used on a pistol. That includes my Sig Sauer 1911 which would be a close second. I've only put about 200 rounds through it. I haven't tried .38 SPL +P yet. I plan to load some up just to try them. The grip is fine for me but I am a big guy with moderately long fingers. Don't buy one without trying the grip first though. It is a handful.

Another good review is available from Colion Noir. He seemed to like it.

So I had the chance to fondle this pistol the other day and was pleasantly surprised to find out I could reach the trigger with a proper grip. It was no more of a stretch than my 1911 which is no issue at all. I would suspect the thinner grips on the Coonan helped. I'm keen to order one but I'll wait and see what kind of legislation our fine government is sending our way.
