Corwin CZ75 mags

I received my sample mags from Corwin (many thanks) and will be testing them this weekend at class. I am very impressed at Corwin for sending these to me after reading a comment I'd made about their mags and not having personal experience with them. They are new manufacture but of a hybrid design, older style baseplate, the thin metal one, but with a modified rear of the feedlips (kind of a semi circular cut vs the rectangular cut where the slide comes through to pick up the next round), with the new antifriction coating on them. The semi circular cut is not like the actual MecGar mags I run, and it looks like it might have been done by hand before finishing, on the two mags I have the cut is not the same between the two of them. The front of the feedlips is the older style square and doesn't have the tab sticking up like the newer MG mags have.The metal seems to be of the same thickness as the current MG ones, so much thicker than the old ones CZ used to ship with the Shadows. I'm going to guess these are made by MecGar, even though Corwin can't tell us and the mags are simply marked, Made in Italy, much like the older Beretta mags MG used to make for Beretta. Follower is black and is again not the same as my current MG mags, but is also not the same as the CZ issued ones from years past. I'll post some more info on these mags once I've run them this weekend, I'm impressed with the fit and finish of these mags, and don't expect any trouble with them.

They've run great in many Shadows locally here, wish the MG +2's worked on them without modification.

Any reason you need the +2 as were limited to 10 anyway, its kind of a moot point but If it is because you want a thicker bottom just put the IMI base pads on, that what I have been running on all my Beretta mags including the 4 I just got from corwin. They are pretty cheap on flea bay, around $15 USD ea with free shipping and 5% off if you order 4+, available is several colors as well.

It's all about having a bit more meat to grab and I really dislike the flat bottom as I always seem to seat the mag on the corner which beats up my hand. I'm actually waiting on 4 of those IMI pads that I ordered after a PM exchange with you about a month ago to give them a try.

Just thought I should mention I was running the black ones on my mags for about 3 years with no issues, been dropping them on dirt in the summer and concrete in the winter, just got some scrapes and marks but thats it. Also they are easy to put on and take off when cleaning, I have been told this can be a PIA with other brands of these type of base pads.

PS: Different colors is a nice option too, I grabbed some tan ones after switching from the elite 1A to the M9A3 to match and left the black ones on my spares, also put gray ones on my .40 mags and olive drab ones one on the 15/10 ones i bought in case I shoot any matches south of the border, it makes for easy and quick identification.

I have only tried my Corwin mags for my 92fs once (received them yesterday).

I did run into a couple hiccups. The slide would hang up when I depressed the slide stop after inserting a new mag, causing me to have to "slingshot" the slide (sometimes more than once) the get the pistol to go into battery. And on one occasion I had a hell of a time getting the mag to eject from the pistol.

Odd thing was, when I got back home I function tested the mags with one round in each mag... they all worked fine except for one slight hang up on releasing the slide stop again. So I feel they were having issues that relate to spring tension. I dunno. I will try them again soon, and get back to this thread

I am assuming they will fit the corwin cz 75 mags, i do know for a fact they fit the ones corwin sells for beretta.

I just checked ebay, they are $15.50 USD, search "IMI floor plate" then sort by " price+shipping lowest first" , there is also another seller that has them for $18.95 with $5 off for every 3 purchased.

Okay, I don't mean to be a broken record. But I have recently got onto 40 cal mags being used in my 9mm.

What would be really nice is if Corwin put out all these 9mm mags in 40s&w instead a quality, well priced mag in 40 would be a god send to us!

I ordered a 4 pack, originally wanted 6 asked to have them at the 4 pack pricing but screwed up ordering them. Instead he added a 5th one for free.. Can't complain about their service at all. They were supposed to ship today, but i'm in no hurry as my pistol still has to be registered in canada.

Slavex, you have a pre-B to try them in?? If not, maybe I can meet up with you at AFGC and try sometime. Pretty sure many people would like to find mags for their old pre-B CZ75s!!!!

I have been running those mag bases in my Beretta Storm and on my CZ mags for about five years. I got about 10 of them for next to nothing from Browmells - memory says less than $5. per. They work great. At $20Cdn they still work great but cost a bit more.

Phat Eagle take a dremel to the interior of your mag well and use regular CZ mags. You really don't have to remove much metal at all to get the new mags to work. As I recall it was just the sides that rubbed to much preventing using the new mags.

Phat Eagle take a dremel to the interior of your mag well and use regular CZ mags. You really don't have to remove much metal at all to get the new mags to work. As I recall it was just the sides that rubbed to much preventing using the new mags.

I was stoked to order some of those rubber ones on ebay last night. Got a couple that came with some Beretta mags I bought from Italy a while ago that looked the same. I was finding it hard to justify $20/ea on a rubber floorplate when an aluminum one costs a couple $$ more (esp on sale) or the $11 MecGar ones. I'm gonna do some more searching....

I can't comment on these mags in particular but I can say I have had, by far, the best customer service from Martin (Corwin). If he ever has anything I even think I might want, I'll be throwing down the credit card.

Most alum ones are not concrete friendly and the real good alum ones are anywhere for $40 to $50 ea, other brand name rubber ones are around $25 ea plus tax and depending where you get them possibly + shipping. Even the +2 base plates are $25 plus tax and possibly shipping and again may not play well with concrete either, I know mine didnt. Personally I dont think $15.50 ea plus exchange is a bad price considering the free shipping and no tax.

They work fine in my original version of CZ 75. I like the way it is "dimpled pinned" on the front unlike the CZ (Czech Republic made ones) which has the high plastic block.

I'll see how the +2 hold up. I bought a bunch form Marstar for $11ea. Ain't no way I was going to drop $25. as another retailer was pricing them for.
