Yes noticed that too. Mine arrived yesterday. Otherwise numbers matching. The Mosin buttplate is a funny thing. It can be swapped in seconds, and put on another stock. So who then knows if the stock is original or not from rifle to rifle. Being that the stock itself is not stamped.
Basically have to go by the escutcheons types from stock to stock to determine period correctness because the buttplate is easily removed.
Anyways, this laminate one is ###y, comfortable. I'll have to post pics soon. Busy watching news on Parliament and getting ready to go plinking with this new M44 of mine...
