COUNTERFEIT leupold scopes

I want to thank you all for kicking my arse and making me feel stupid for not putting it back on the store. I took all your advice, and phoned the store again to discuss this with them. I explained that I posted a thread on here trying to warn others about counterfeit scopes out there, and didn't mention their store name because this is not what this thread was about.
I told them of the upset responses and the opinions shared and it seems they might now want to make some sort of amendment.
At least this time they took down my email and my phone number, and said they will contact me Monday. Hopefully they make it right then. If not I will then share the name of the store on here to protect my fellow nutz from this kind of dealing, if that is acceptable to the moderators. (I don't know if that kind of thing is no no or not.)

Good job.
Let us know how it turns out and if the company steps up and does the right thing.

Most stores really like to stand behind their "final sale on guns" policies. They all wash their hands of you the moment you walk out the door...

As for contacting the Better for Business Bureau, don't waste your time. You'll spend weeks or months corresponding with them, going through all the hoops, the business will make a "conciliatory" offer (which will not be satisfactory) and when you reject this the BBB will side with the business. :jerkit:

The store needs a business licence.
Contact the city hall and file a complaint with their licencing
department and let them know of the shinnannigins of this facility
if you aren’t satisfied with their decision.
The BBB is a waste of time.

Ain't NO WAY I'd let them get away with it WHETHER THEY KNEW IT OR NOT!!!

Keep us in the loop, IMHO they should give you a REAL Leupold to replace the fake!

Can we leave the gd government out if it.. they've done enough lately to eff us over.
Plus they dont care about ethics of a business.. just legality...

I feel your pain. Happened to me on EE once. Was actually quite a decent little scope till i maxed the elevation....and it stayed there lol. I won't buy a used Leupold any more with out cross referencing the serial number with customer service and a seller with an excellent trader rating.

That's terrible you got scammed, Its not your fault totally. As a business it's their responsibility to make sure they're not selling you a knock off or at least let you know prior to purchase. Thanks for letting us know. I hope the store steps up to the plate for you.
As for you not wanting to publish their name specifically, you can always inform us what their name "rhymes with". Good luck and don't take no for an answer!

While there are some really good counterfeit items out there (recent Rolex watches for one), I haven't seen a Leupold scope that would fool me, and it definitely shouldn't fool a store owner that handles them frequently. That's assuming you bought it from a gun store, not a pawn shop, etc.

Would you mind posting a pic of the scope? Be interesting to see so we know what to look for, especially if they've stepped it up a notch.

You could also contact the Consumer Protection Service in BC and file a complaint if a solution isn't to your satisfaction.

Sorry to hear about your scope. Send it back for full compensation and don`t accept "keep it and a $50 in store gift card to ease the pain". No one wants to look at at fake scope mounted on their beautiful rifle. Keep us posted

Yes, Good 4 u..Don't back down, be firm, & I'd record every conversation with them as well. Cheerz~

back in the wholesale sports days, I noticed the scoped used guns had very good prices. one inline had a vx3 scope on it. the sales guy told me we don't add anything to the price if there is a scope on a used gun.... in case the scope has issues. i dont know how common that practice is.... just sayin

unfortunately they will bribe the OP and continue to screw other purchasers. the OP then becomes an enabler. the purchaser has responsibilities to the community just as the vendor does. he used this post to get a settlement, then leaves everyone vulnerable.

in this day in age you got to be careful if the price seems too good to be true (you know the rest) am sure this happens more and more at gun shows etc where everyone is looking for a bargain - perhaps leupold knowing this should publish known counterfit serial numbers on their web site

I ended up with one off the EE. 3x9x40. Put it on my .22 and when I went from 5 to 6 power it moved POI an inch to the right. Heard about the fakes and phoned Leupold and yup, not ours. Had fun strapping it to a tree and shooting the lenses out.
To buy one from a gun dealer really has to suck.

Hey 1-trident-1 did you even read this post from the beginning or am I missing something here?
Obviously you are just one of those guys that has nothing better to do than whine about something. The intent of this post was obviously to warn other nutz about FAKE LEUPOLD SCOPES. I then took the advice of my fellow nutz and put it back on the store rather than be the only one that got zinged.
I believe that once the store also gets zinged they will pay better attention and won't let it happen again. Compensating me for a fake product they sold me is a real bribe, yeah............??????
If you think I used this post as a threat to the store that is your useless opinion, and from this point on you will be ignored by me as I am not here to banter with the likes of you.

I kind of get the jest the gumnut was intending to say you may get a refund and they will turn around
and sell it to someone else.

The rest of their remark is butt ahh fantuhsea.

Now Jay and noarmshewter has me interested...………………………….my muhkneezs izz awn Jay though...…………...
