COUNTERFEIT leupold scopes

I got a Counterfeit Leupold just last week or so-- from a Gel blast shop.
They claim that some guys want knock off looking Leupold...

I got a refund and sent it back.... Frrkennnnn!

It was the vx3i 4-14 version that gets around... I actually purchased a 1.75-6 version
 
I wouldnt buy one wether it was real or fake. They are overpriced and have failed me too many times. Kahles ,Swaro or German Zeiss and Im happy but Meopta and Leica also work for me.

Nah, I think it was just a bit of a cover up to calm my farm, as I said I emailed Leupold the serial an it's Fake...looked just like the fake ones on YouTube etc ..

It sorta makes sense for the Gel blaster scene... Bla bla. Whatever though .

Bought a Vari X3 2.5-8x 36 on the GP a couple years ago. Like new, less than $300 shipped. Haven't checked serial number yet. Either got a smoking deal or got ripped. Seems like quality product but who knows? Patent and copyright laws mean little in Asia apparently.

The scope came on a used rifle that I purchased from a fairly new gun store (not sure if I am allowed to post the name here so I won't). Regardless, they are washing their hands of the issue and offering no compensation.
Anyways, the scope is a fake LEUPOLD VX3i 3.5 x 10 x 40 matte and is serial # 366708AC. I am giving the serial number, because after seeing the fake side by side with my genuine VX3, and noticing a few subtle differences, I phoned 1-800-LEUPOLD and talked to their technical services department where they told me that there are SEVERAL of these fakes in circulation with that exact serial number.......(Leupolds service was top notch by the way).
The rep told me that my first warning should have been that the scope has a mildot reticle, and Leupold has never put that reticle in that model of scope.
Anyways, I am now stuck with a counterfeit scope as I will not put anyone else thru this crappy feeling of being scammed. It will live on a .22 and make me mad every time I think of how much it cost me! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!
(on a side note, I am really curious who is building these counterfeits as they are done quite well, and the exterior quality looks better than many base model name brand scopes I have seen)

Out of curiosity, what's the quality like when looking through the scope? Even through it's not Leupold, is it serviceable?
 
Probably nowadays the Loophole "fake" scopes are better than coming from the woke Crow 🐦‍⬛ in Oregon.

I won't buy any of the good old used Bushnell and Loophole scopes anymore.

They are so good, that's why people sell it !

Define serviceable...
But a Bushnelle or a Tasco or a Simmons if looking for serviceable.
Having said that , they likely will do the job until it stops then it is time to send out to someone who might work on it to repair the fake item.

Serviceable like holds 0 enough to mount on a savage .308 for less serious hunts in southern BC.

My friends Swaro z5 captures light infinitely better than my old VX3 but I still can't justify the price of a z5 when my VX3 bags game just fine.

Maybe a decent black market will force Leupold to increase their quality. New competition in a free market and all that.

I need to take a hard in person look at one to see the difference

Never would I buy one off EE/used market without handling it

The seller might not know its counterfeit either

If you buy used/ 2nd hand market stick with the old glossys, they aren't counterfeiting the older stuff.....

My fake VX-3 1.5-5x is actually quite good. The optical quality is decent, the clicks are clean and reliable and it has thus far held zero no problem on a No4 Mk2 rifle. It has been producing very good group sizes.

The only problem with the fake is the Mil-Dot reticle is wrong. The space between the dots is closer to 3 MIL.

My experience with less expensive Bushnell and Tasco has been good but IMO Simmons are not worth purchasing.

I bought my fake VX-III at a gun show. I didn't know it was a fake.

I also have a fake VX-III 1.5-5. Have it on a .22. Works fine with surprisingly decent glass. Holds zero and the 1/2 moa adjustment seems pretty true. Cost me $70 off the EE.
I would like to try it on a centre-fire but worried it would turn to dust.

I also have a couple real VX2s and a VX Freedom. My dad prefers the fake VX-III! 🤷‍♂️

I paid $300 for mine at a gun show. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Mine is just fine on a full power 303. 🤷‍♂️
