I'm looking for wax bullets to shot out of a Chiapa Mare's Leg 357/38 and wondering if thay work out of a lever action

I've never heard of anyone buying them but you could make your own if you have the molds. If you're looking for close range target loads make yourself some gluelits from hot glue sticks and load them with no powder and a magnum primer.

i have never tried in a levergun, but i know they will not feed weel in an auto. i am not talking about cycling the action, i never expected pressure to be great enough. what i mean is that when i manually cycle my auto sometimes wax rounds will chamber and sometimes the wax bullet just mashes up against my barrel hood. usually the bullet ogive will guide a round into the chamber, but being so soft, sometimes the wax deformes before the round slides in the chamber.

hard and fast seems to work the best for autos. no chance if you baby it in.

IIRC you can find a link through the Fast Draw website. I think they recommend drilling the brass to accomodate cheddite shotgun primers.

Wax Bullets for CAS

I don't know how well they will work in your rifle. but heres a place you can buy wax bullets and brass altered for shotgun primers that will propel them

I shoot Fast Draw and I know quite few things about wax bullets especially in Canada.
I don't know if the thread is still warm but if so I'll let anyone know where to buy wax bullets in Canada.
Bushwackerwestern.com belongs to a well known Fast Draw shooter and now CAS shooter out of Vancouver area.
In Calgary there is another Fast Draw shooter that is a dealer for wax bullets makers in USA.

Shooting wax has multiple advantages. For CAS and Fast Draw that is the way to go for training. I know people that shoot IPSC and use wax for training.
Is cheap, way safer than a real bullet and not that noisy. The speed of a wax bullet propelled by a 209 primer(no powder) is the same as a real .45 LC with gun powder and lead bullet.

Accommodating 209 primers in the casing is ONLY for shooting the wax bullet out of a revolver coz the primer is not placed with a machine but with hand.
