Coyote control in urban areas.

I sh*t you not. I didnt believe the phone call untill I seen pictures. A family of 4 are ganging up on the larger pets. Acting like a pack. It wasn't like he was hurt within an inch of his life, but he did get a few stitches. We weren't home so a concerned passer by called the spca, who infact did the medical aid.

a subsonic .22 or a bow would help that problem. I still cant believe that my beagle will chase them without thinking

Bait and a (spring) powered snare is the (non-firearm) trapper's choice for coyotes. Maybe a trapper would be interested in helping you out?

For a fee!! Payed in advance I suspect in this guys case..
You don't affect yote populations until you have reduced them by at least 70%.

If you let your cats outside there is no one to blame but yourself. There are coyotes known to be in my area and I make sure my cats stay inside. Haven't had a problem yet with a coyote coming inside my house to eat my cats.

Obviously. Clearly people are not reading my post. My cat was *indoor* and escaped. I do not let my cats out.

Well in the (formerly area known as the Lowermainland) now know as Metro Vancouver you are not going to eradicate the Coyote Population by 70 %.
There are simply to many humans living here feeding these dam animals.
People toss there trash where ever they want (read littering)thus providing food for them.
There are studies that show the harder you hunt Coyotes, the harder/faster they breed and populate the area in which they are being hunted.
If people can not control their trash, how can one expect them to control their pets ?
The trapping idea while a good idea is about as useful as trying the SSS in this populated area.
illae I understand your not a Ir-responsible pet owner, but your neighbor might be.
Good Luck,
Rob

So it becomes a political and community problem. Not a question of tactics or calibres.

And any cat who " escapes their loving indoor environment " can be exposed to a myriad of risks, let alone the killer coyotes.

I wasn't directly referring to you. I am talking more about the people that let their cats out like a teenage boy with the car keys. My cats run out every so often and I try and catch them before they get eaten, but if you let your cat out before you go to work, and let it back in before you go to bed, you shouldn't be complaining.

I am just waiting for the next" I have a neighbours cat destroying my flowerbed" post , with all the funny suggestions about making the offending pussy disappear! lol
