coyote hunting ammo recommendations

Hi I am from southwestern Ontario and I just bought a used Savage Axis in 22-250 calibre.
It came with a couple of boxes of Remington express rifle 55 GR PSP ammo.
What ammo are you using on coyotes what is best for minimal hide damage?
 
I've used them in my .223 and .22-250. Both guns liked them and they were only hard on hides if closer than 50 yards. Almost always had an exit, Sometimes small, sometimes the size of my fist. I guess it depends on where you hit them.
 
The ammo you have now is going to hit them hard but it is not fur friendly, it tears massive holes when it exits the other side. If you want the bullet to stay inside and leave a tiny entry hole so that you can collect fur then use the Hornady 50 or 55 grain VMax. It works well and is fur friendly. The 50 grain is extremely accurate in my Ruger #1V with a 1:14 twist rate. I don't know the twist rate of the Savage?

Show me where it says that in the regs. Not trying to be difficult I just don't want you to be spreading your own personal opinions as laws. Just so were clear, I disagree that it's illegal, I looked through the regs and not in there, so it appears like you're talking out of your arse on this one.

The regs you get at the store or are on line are just a summary. For the complete regs you must contact the MNR. At one time they used to print the calibre/bullet restrictions in the reg's summary. I am 99.9% sure FMJ's are not allowed for hunting in Ontario and I am going to try to get more info to appease youso I am not talking out my arse as you would say, if I am wrong I will stand corrected......hmmm check your breath buddy, it has a familiar unpleasant odour!
 
So what you're telling me is there are two sets of regs? An that the online regs are wrong/incomplete........... I would stop now friend before someone makes up a law about being wrong when you're 99% sure about something. I'm 99.99% sure you're wrong on this one :)
 
22-250 loaded up with 50gr Nosler Orange Tips. The barnes varmint granads are nice if you are hunting in an open area or big field, they do not ricochet off of anything.

Read the fine print where it says it is just a summary. For complete regulations contact the MNR...........

Obviously I mixed up the regulations I had read it in........from the Saskatchewan Regs.........

Hunting Regulations
It is a violation to:
! hunt big game with a firearm or metal projectile of .23 calibre or less.
! hunt big game with full metal-jacketed, hardpoint, non-expanding bullets.

and it says big game too so I was definitely off the mark........I apologize for any inconvenience I may have caused the OP

In Sask there is this exception.

(4) Notwithstanding subclause (2)(c)(vii), metal-jacketed hard-point non-expanding
bullets may be used for hunting fur animals, excluding bears, as provided for by
these regulations.

however I don't know if ont has its queens printer stuff on the internet. If you want a complete copy of the current regulations contact the queens printer and order a print out. Usually costs about 10 bucks for most things.
