Just curious, where can I hunt coyote in Ontario (Southern Ontario)? Is there a special hunting licensing requirement? What to do with killed coyotes? I just got a nice 223 and I would like to get into the critter hunting.

Get a small game tag on your outdoors card, find some crown land, or get permission from a private owner, double-check the WMU and blast away! As for what to do with them.... If you get one with a nice coat, it might be worth getting treated, just to have one, but realistically, just use it to bait more Coyotes!

I am also interested in this.

My H1 course isnt for about a month so im trying to figure this stuff out on my own. is their a website the someone could direct me to regarding how i can figure out where i can hunt?

I do have small game license, I just thought there may be some additional tagging requirements. Of course, hunting reg brochure shall be read. I am just more curious, lets say, you shoot 5 coyotes with crappy fur, do you just leave them there or do you have harvest them, bury them, take them home and BBQ them, freeze them in your freezer? I just dont know what to do with critters you wouldn't typically eat.
Thanks for all the answers.

A lot of counties also require permission in writing to hunt private land. Also some of the county forests are out of bounds too. Check the regs, but you also have to be aware of local bylaws, especially in southern Ont. The closer you are to the urban centres the more restrictive it gets.

Just don't leave the carcasses on a trail or beside the road...drag them into the bush, nature will take care of the rest.

"...thought there may be some additional tagging requirements..." There are. Look in the huntung regs under fur bearing game.

In terms of public places, check out OFAH and their forums. There are some places in Simcoe county, quite near to Toronto, where hunting is permitted. MNR regulations apply. Also, call before heading out to ask about any other restrictions that may be in place.
Grand River conservation areas also have open seasons for hunting, but not coyotes as far as I know.

Some areas have bounties for them so you can make some money, sometimes you need the feet sometimes you need the pelt. Keep doing research and educate yourself a bit more before you head out.

There are many farmers that are letting new hunters on their land just because of the over population in the last two years. So its a great time to create new friendships with land owners for the future.

Small game is all that is required in ontario for coyotes. You can skin them out and sell the hides through Hudson Bay or one of the other companies.

If they are shot and bloody, you can spend 2 hours skinning, washing, stretching, scraping, and maybe some sewing. If you're lucky they'll fetch $15 for it. Some of the southern ones go for $5, and you have to claim the cash as income.

Now that's a great side job!! Anywhere in Ontario where the coyotes are over populated and they need a few hundred gone? :p

Just go out and blast away, sorry it ain't that easy, and it probably cost $100.00 to shoot a coyote if you hunting them day in and out.Not a real money maker.A bounty of $100.00 probably might be a break even point.

Just read the regs and you only get two wolf/coyote game seals per season. It ends April 1 as well until September. So much for this year.

It depends on what WMU you are hunting.

Coyotes are open all year in "most" of Southern Ont, with no limit...except for a small area surrounding Algonquin Park (IIRC)
