coyotes stalking my dog

Thanks for chiming in guys. I just come in from fixing up the kennel. It is 6 feet tall. I extended fencing right from the kennel entrance to the stairs of our raised deck . No chance of my puppy getting out when we let him out for a pee. And no chance of a coyote getting in.

I like the idea of using urine scents as someone here suggested. I wonder what scent would be best at alarming the yotes, and where could i get it....

Not sure if it works but throwing out the option. Scents/pheromones do work in nature. I’ve never used those products though, just did a search and presented it as an option to possibly help out.

I live + trap in an area with quite a bit of overlap between eastern coyote and wolves, and if your coyotes are anything like the ones here wolf urine won't do anything except maybe bring more in.

Sounds like your legal options are pretty limited.

Just back from the Yukon. People I visited realized why dog yards were fenced there, after wolves killed one of their sled dogs, chained to it's kennel. :(

Your own works really well, just piss around the perimeter of the yard and they will stay away.

I live in an urban area, but we do get coyotes in our neighbourhood. The “rule” is that they are left alone unless they are aggressive towards either people or pets on leash, at which time they are dealt with by the city. Have you asked around to see what line they have to cross before your local jurisdiction will address it, or permit you to?
