CPC Leadership

My reasoning for voting for Lewis is straightforward. I believe any old white guy is unelectable. It reflects very badly on the intelligence of Canadian voters, but life is as it is. Race or gender honestly has nothing to do with ability to govern, but obviously ability isn't a requirement in Canadian politics. I take her at her word that she would rescind the OIC. Beyond that, any prospective leader of the CPC would do a better job than our incumbent. So I'll vote for them even if it's someone as untrustworthy as MacKay. She seems to be sharp, so I can hope she will be extremely moderate speaking about guns, abortion, and any other hot topic.

I was rooting for Erin first, but Lewis seems much more authentic to me with a bullet proof background and image. PLUS her immediate stance and reversing the OIC and reviewing anti-firearm bills sealed the deal for me. Erin just kept beating around the bush about "reviewing" laws.

Lewis has a Firearm survey she sent via email (not visible on her campaign website):

PLEASE fill it if shes your choice!

Except Erin O Toole is 47...he is younger than Trudeau.
And every PM has been a white male.

So not sure why you think white guys are un-electable. I tell you all who is un electable - someone who can't win their own seat. And Lewis did not win her own seat, which was a former conservative seat. She's already -1 !

A note to the CPC....drop the abortion fight, you will never win with this on the ballot.

Why make statements like this when it is obvious you have no clue what her platform is?

THIS is what she has said she will do:

- Ban the misogynistic practice of ###-selective abortion.
- Seek measures to protect women from coerced abortions.
- Increase support for pregnancy care centres - to make sure that women in a crisis pregnancy have the help they need and deserve.
- End funding for international abortions and focusing our foreign aid to promote overall healthcare - a policy that was broadly supported under Stephen Harper’s leadership.

Even many pro-choicers can get behind most of these policies!

Kim Campbell.wasnt and was partly responsible for the sh it we are looking at now

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

We have had the elites promote Scheer. A big fail. Now the backroom elites and media promote McKay or O'Toole. Another big fail.

Even if an elite choice is nominated again...................expect another big fail.

I do not believe a traditional conservative party will ever win another Canadian majority.

I like Leslyn Lewis based not the color of her skin or gender but because of the platform and message.

I think she is a straight shooter and we need a hail mary. We need a miracle from God.

Your typical white male candidate is always branded a racist and a ###ist by the corrupt media.

Well they can't do that to Lewis.

Sure they can.. just like they call Muslims who speak against Islamic doctrine as Islamphobes and haters... amd call.themselves Catholic while supporting abortion etc... the hypocrisy of the media knows no limits

Not that this matters too much, but let's not forget Trump had never held office before. Not even a city council seat.

Trump was a household name and a celebrity, you all seem to forget that. Star power is worth a big chunk of your votes for those that just go with someone they know, and lots of people vote like that.

LESLYN LEWIS!
She makes me proud to call myself Canadian again!

Yes, there is a good gut feeling about her, Liberals are ###t scared of her and will send all their trolls to fight against her.
Expect many liberals, masked as conservatives, to chime in here and desperately try to divert our intention from Leslyn Lewis and into liberal safer waters (choose anyone but Lewis). This forum has countless liberal trolls sleeping cells which are now being called into action.
According to commies, Leslyn Lewis MUST NOT be elected at any or all cost!! She is the only serious threat to the communist party of Canada!!
If you want to keep your freedom and guns, Lewis is THE ONLY and THE LAST HOPE for law abiding gun owners. Liberals know this darn well, they will step up their "troll game" exponentially as the election date draws near.
Liberals' game is: "anyone is better than Lewis!"

O'toole is who we need. He's already stated he will reverse the ban when he gets in. He comes from a true blue town that's had many many long years of Conservative MP's. He a military man and respects gun ownership.

My primary concern with Lewis is that the Liberals (and by extension, the media) will just focus on her stance on abortion. If you look at the interviews she's done, that's all the hosts want to talk about, and it'll take up all the oxygen in the room. That said, if it's her or another old white guy, the odds of her getting the 905 and, dare I even hope, one or two in the 416 might be better.

As for MacKay, yes he's a red Tory, but if he sees his party base being expanded by the thousands by pissed off firearms enthusiasts, I would expect that he would play the consummate politician and appease that base. He's not going to run on firearms reform, but I would trust that he'd repeal the OiC and he'd repeal C-71 in an omnibus budget bill, maybe make some changes to classifications, but no more than that. He would eat into a chunk of the Liberal seat count in Atlantic Canada. He's fluently bilingual, so that helps in QC. He would also eat Trudeau for lunch and dinner in a debate in any language.

Sloan has about as good a chance of winning the leadership race or a general election as the Leafs have of winning the Cup this year or next.

I like O'Toole. He's known in Ontario, he's a 905 MP, retired military, tells it like it is, etc.. But he's just another old white guy. As much as I think he'd be the best PM of the group of them, I don't think he could win a general.

I've been a party member for years and this is the first time I've had to sit here seriously questioning who I vote for.

Trudeau says he does not believe in abortion, but believes a woman should have the right to choose.

So we can choose a white man who doesn't believe in abortion or a black woman lawyer from Toronto to be the first Black Female PM.

Even progressives will feel good about that.
