CPC Leadership

This is what I am afraid of: All works in favor of Lewis except the abortion thing. "I am pro life myself but I support the rights of women to make their own choice and I'm not reopening the abortion debate" is all she needs to say to close that chapter and destroy Trudeau on all other fields. Instead she put 4 (yes "four") paragraphs that relate to abortion and things she would implement as PM. So, in short, those are the only 4 items she will be constantly asked about from left leaning media and they will run those and only those questions all over again. It will be same like with Scheer when they pounded him with questions on his views on ### marriage and parades. She doesn't need to lie or to change her views but she needs to realise it is almost impossible to win any more if you keep in some way reopening these divisive issues by choosing to put them in your campaign.

It's my hope she creates her own tangible liberal burning debate point's, it feels like every time their supporters are the ones steering the conversation to make the CPC look intolerant by bringing stuff like this up. The CPC needs to go on the offensive for once in the last couple of decades, and start holding their toes over the fire. Make them look so inept that their supporters will feel ashamed to support them.

O’tole will be a great leader of the opposition. His seats will be a mirror image of Andrew. A sweep of the west and nothing else

Peter has a chance to be PM. He will get more east of MB than anyone else listed so far.

I agree 100%...but unfortunately we must pander to those that voted previously for the left in order to gain a majority government. And in that case Leslyn Lewis maybe the best choice.
I think it will come down to a choice between Mackay and her....but what do I know, I'm just a dumb farm kid from the prairies.

Even bigger than this is her stance on making marijuana illegal again.

No membership for me.

All funds will be used to what I believe to create the maximum return on my investment. These funds will be placed into CPC ridings that are very close in winning an election with the Liberals. Gambling? Yes.

Want a current list? Email Sheldon Clare at the NFA.

And I am not even an NFA member.

I use the same tactic for Cancer donations. All funds go into a particular cancer research laboratory at the U. of A. A laboratory where those kids are working to into the wee hours of the morning 7 days a week.

Spend your money wisely to create the maximum return. And yes there is the element of risk. Keep it low.

So you can't spare $15. What is that? 2 mag dumps from an AR?

Lewis could have been a dream candidate but her touching abortion makes a her toxic to gen pop.

We need to move away from divisive issues and make a big blue tent

The point of the $15 dollar membership is to be able to vote for the new CPC leader.

So you have your 15 dollar membership.

Question: Does that 15 dollars go to your leadership candidate or the lazy CPC bum in your riding who does not even want to touch anything about guns?

Do you even know when and where the next CPC meeting will be held in your riding after you bought your membership. Buyer Beware.

From what I see so far, its Lewis for me. My wife already seems 100% set on her. And that's based on her platform and the fact she's NOT been in gov't before, somewhat like the swamp-drainer south of the border, except with some class. Lets see, qualifications: Numerous degrees that aren't drama or gender studies : check. Owns a successful business: check. Her firm deals with commercial litigation and international contracts trade, specializing in energy policy: check. (Gee, I wonder if she'd support pipelines and such??). I'm imagining that as a lawyer she'll have some debating skills, and as a business owner some management skills as well, especially considering she's been at it for decades.\

My choices based on her qualifications supersede the fact that she's both black & Indian and female, but one cannot dismiss that those details will have vote-gathering ability all on their own (not that I agree with voting on appearances alone, look at our current PM Zoolander for what can go catastrophically wrong there). I admit that I think it would be hysterical to rub any left wing, virtue-signalling noses with the fact that Canada's second female PM (and first visible minority PM ) is also a Conservative. ( and technically she would be the first voted in as such, rather than by the majority party's leadership vote like with Kim Campbell).

Between MacKay and O'Toole I'd not have a clear choice between the two, though admittedly I have more research to do on them.

From her Wikipedia page (copied below) it noes that when she ran for a seat previously she only had a very short amount of time to campaign as she was a replacement candidate in her riding. Despite this, she still got a fairly good number of votes, still it was quite far behind the Liberal winner, but given a scandal with the previous candidate and only 3 weeks to run, it was pretty good considering (the Liberal winner had 29,913 and she came 2nd with 13,387). Given no previous candidate scandal and 5 to 7 more weeks to campaign and she'd probably have had a solid chance there. Also notable is that she had a Harper endorsement.

Wikipedia: "Lewis began her political career in the riding of Markham-Stouffville, where she was Vice President and a primary fundraiser of the riding under Paul Calandra (Member of Parliament). In 2015, Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed her as a replacement candidate to run the riding of Scarborough-Rouge Park only a few weeks before the vote. The riding had been plagued with a scandal, for which the previous Conservative candidate had been dismissed.[6] An article in the National Post referred to Lewis as a “high-quality substitute".[7] She eventually placed second to Liberal Gary Anandasangaree, but managed to obtain over 13,000 votes[8] – one of the highest vote counts among Conservatives in the GTA.

In February 2020, she was the first woman confirmed as an official leadership contestant for the Conservative Party of Canada,[1] following the stepping down of former Leader Andrew Scheer in December 2019. She is the first visible minority woman to run for the leadership of either of the two major federal Canadian parties"

Leslyn Lewis is not going to overturn any OIC and personally dislikes firearms (which I have on good authority from a real estate investor that knows her well enough personally to call her a family friend) she also doesn't happen to own any firearms. She is however smart enough to realize that she can get a large number of votes for the upcoming cpc leadership race by campaigning on support for gun owners given the current atmosphere and galvanized block of conservative voters who also happen to own guns.

I personally think all of the candidates are weak but on guns specifically Lewis is a Judas.

Cannot take risks. This needs to be investigated and tested.
Can someone (outspoken) invite her to the range and see what her response will be ? Or, something along those lines...

If I don’t see any candidates on the range actually shooting and having fun and supporting us all I will have a very hard time forcing myself to choose one. Politicians are NOT as good as their words or statements. Their actions are usually weak.

Uhmm...here is my suggestion:
IF all 3 of them (Leslyn Lewis, Erin Otoole, Peter MacKay) say that they “support” legal firearms owners then it might be a good idea to “test” all 3 of them and - invite them to the shooting range - and let’s see which one of them would give the “best response” to it...
What do you think ?

I'd say invite Trudeau to the shooting range for a day of fun and see where it would go from there.

i joined for a year but didn't see where to make a selection? Did I do something wrong

The vote isn't available yet.

Leslyn Lewis is the clear choice for me. IMO she is our only hope for a majority. We need a majority to even consider reversing the decade of damage the Libs have done.

Regardless of how she tries to clarify I think Lewis would get slaughtered in a general election on her social values. I can hear the liberal attack ads now
