I'm new at CQBs shooting hell I'm so new I haven't done it yet, but I`m wondering if I should start why you ask, well I've been reading on a different thread about civilians wanting to participate in CQBs wearing camo and some say that civilians should not be allowed because they haven't earned it, and its been said that civilians that want to wear camo at a match are just wannabees well maybe it`s true who cares we`re there to have fun and develope new friendship. So i guess you have to be a cop, soldier, etc in order to wear camo. Well that's got to be the dumbest thing I ever heard. Camouflage is not a badge of honor, It`s clothing you wear to blend in into your environment.

It's bad enough we have to fight with our governments in order to keep our fireams now we have to fight amongs ourselves so some of us can wear camo at a shoot. I mean if it's club policy that you can't wear camo at a shoot or at any othertime that's fine and it should apply to every one, but not being able to wear it because you haven't earned it is f$ck$ng ridiculess.
At the gun club where I shoot we don`t allow camouflage not because we haven`t earned it, it`s becauce we don`t want our members to look like a bunch of weekend warriors. Do I agree with that, of course not but I follow the rules of the club.

I have to upmost respect for our people in uniform especially the soldier that fought or are fighting so other people can have a better life. But I'll be damn if I take a back seat to them or anyone else. I have worked in construction
for 35 yrs in all kinds of crappy conditions, I pay my taxes every year so I think I have earned the right to wear camo at a shooting competition, not that I would. So if I decide to attend a match I would appreciate it if I knew in advance if it`s OK for civilians to wear camo at the match, if it`s not I`ll stay home, cause I wouldn`t want to be associated with people who think their chit don`t stink.

So for the people who think civilians shouldn`t wear camo at a CQB match because we haven`t earned it, I have a few choice words for you but I`ll keep them to myself.

Well I guess I had my say, didn`t mean to offend anyone

So using your own statement.. why do you need to blend into the background when you are at the range???? Hiding from the other shooters? There is no need, so there is no need for camo..

that's what you are saying with your statement..

However.. what I think.. Camo is clothing plain and simple, wear it when/if you want to .. however.. a range or club is a private organization, they make the rules.. if you don't like it.. go elsewhere.. or make your own..

Wear whatever you want. IMO, if you're going to do something, either do it right or not at all. If you want to shoot CQB in full cammo, go right ahead. Anyone saying you're not worthy of cammo might as well say you're not worthy of competing in a CQB match. So say F.O. & M.Y.O.B.. I'm sure you'll see cowboy attire at cowboy matches!

You'll get short shrift from most IPSC types on this subject. If your club is dominated by such you may find that they tend to try and foist IPSC policies on all activities.

As I understand it, IPSC is concerned about the 'image' camo and military looking gear projects to the public. I believe that this view is outmoded and entrenched in 1980's concerns about extremist militia groups in the US and post Viet Nam anti military ideals.

If nothing else, times have changed and camo clothing is pretty mainstream.

I think the bad rep on camo is why many people dont want you to wear it to the range... That whole "you dont deserve it!" is a bunch of bs.. and if anyone is actually saying that, they have some serious soul searching to do.

Wearing camo at the range is like wearing a NASCAR race suit to drive to work... you COULD... but most likely you wont be going 300kph on the highway making only left turns... Its the same principal that I apply to a gun... if you dont NEED it... dont use it... (my opinion)

Wear "urban camoflauge" to the range.. ie what you would wear everyday... because that is the form of camoflauge that seems to work the best. Especially in CQB. Trust me if i could wear civis to work i would!

So long as your going with a generic look, IE:woodlands or somesuch I don't see why they should have an issue.
Don't apply any regimental or country markings, thats spitting in someones face who wears it on the two-way range.

J So for the people who think civilians shouldn`t wear camo at a CQB match because we haven`t earned it said:
i cant really see why someone would have an issue with a non military type wearing cammo. it issued to us, its not like we have to wear od until we earn cadpat. chances are the guy telling you this is full of #### or didnt have much of a career. id never have a problem with a guy wearing some form of cam at the range, but id rarely do it myself, mostly because by friday i want to wear normal people clothes. to sum up, i wouldnt worry about what some guy is chirping about, ignore it and do your thing.

I agree on regimental badges but the Canadian flag belongs to us all. If someone wishes to display the flag of their homeland then so be it.

GOTHMOG I agree with you about the narrrow minds that inhabit some of the organized sports

:agree: I wear a surplus winter jacket to work, groceries, range, everywhere, and I can tell you the small Canada flag on the left shoulder is something I am very proud of, as I believe I wear a statement to all the brave souls who puts their lifes on the line everyday to protect it.

The whole camo thing however is beyond me.

Want to wear camo? Wear camo. Wannt to wear a pink shirt? Wear a pink shirt. Want to wear a Remington shirt? Wear a remington shirt. Simple.

All I can say is, some people need to grow up and get their heads out of their ass!

"earn it" who the hell decides that. Wear whatever you please. I would wear pink camo just because and if someone has a problem,TFB

I couldn't imagine showing up to a match and proving that I had the right to wear clothing in a free country. I can see my tax dollars are going to "some" people who think I am somehow inferior unless I can prove I earned it - even though I have paid 7 figures in taxes in 20 years of being an adult and have always supported freedom of choice and our military. Ridiculous.

The only thing I should prove is that I am licensed, and that I can handle a gun safely and that I can take direction and follow instructions.

haha, this whole thing reminds me of the numerous times we've caught d*uchebags at the bar wearing canadian dog tags hanging out like jewlery, or airborne t-shirts. and of course when asked every last one was a sniper lol. Same people sh!tting bricks when called out on it.:D

more on topic... i'll be getting out of the army soon and if someone were to give me crap about wearing camo as a civilian on a shooting range (not that i would go out of my way to) ...i would be telling them where to go and how to get there. screw them as long as its not significant of some specific achievement (regimental stuff, jump wings, etc.), who cares.

I don't know about you, but I had to wear the old OD on my basic! It was a treat when I was actually issued a CADPAT tacvest and not the old webbing. Little did I know....:D
