CQB in BC now!!

I have a few things to work on for the next match.

I need to focus a bit more. I rechambered a round at the whistle after the "watch & shoot", it cost me a round.

I also need to work on my accuracy under pressure. With the timer counting down, it sure adds a bit of pressure.

I had just got those magwedges for my Lar mags the night before.
Hadn't quite worked out the flip yet. I was much faster with my side by side set up.
Anybody have tips on flipping the mags? I should have just dropped, and grabbed a fresh one.

Thanks for being such a great safety for a noob like me, Miraclejoe. Really appreciate your tips/instruction! I'll never have a dry chamber stoppage again :ar15:

Thanks to Ryan et al for organizing the event, and thanks to the sponsors for great prizes! I had a fantastic time (despite the rain), and would definitely do it again. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Some lessons learned from the shoot:
1- Mechanical offset. I thought I was dialed in, but I was ~3" low at the 10m mark. This put a nice tight group centered on the bottom line of the 5 box.
2- Understand the matches before showing up on the line. The RSO gave a brief before each serial, but I missed one and it cost me ~20 points.

From observing others:
1- Lube/rifle maintenance. Saw some people with lube less rifles. This lead to stoppages. Everyone should have a bottle of their favorite RIFLE lube in their kit.
2- Stoppages: #### happens, you need to at least know "Tap, rack and go" and how to clear double feeds.

It's turnouts and support like this, that keeps 'real' ranges happy, and good s**t happening.

I see it (mostly) the other way around CM

It's ranges without silly restrictions with well run matches set up to accomodate all shooters and all gear that will continue seeing steady and growing support.

Big thanks to you guys (and gal) that made this match a success.

Anybody in the LML who has an interest in this type of shooting, you won't find a better group and venue to shoot with.

Dry fire, and practice mag changes.
Unless your eyesight really sucks, ditch the magnifier inside 50m - it is going to slow you down when indexing on targets, and you're chances of getting crossfire on your neighbour's targets go's up.

I'm glad everyone had a good time. Kyle Will and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to make this as good as it can be without slowing things down. Looks like our collective experience came through.
I'm glad I decided to go with chamber flags from the safety relay. We had no safety issues that were shooter induced. I've found one so far but it was only caused by how we called the line. Totally our fault and will be hammered home to the ROs before the next one.
Honestly you guys were a great bunch and picked things up very quickly. Kudos goes to the shooters!
This thing is going to get big in a hurry and we will polish it until it shines. But I guess it wasn't a bad go for a first try.

Shelldrake I did have Fig 11 with a Huns head over the face printed up. We covered the paper with plastic sheeting(painting drop cloths) so they stayed dry. It worked quite well even with a lot of holes shot into them!

Can't wait to do one of these with you guys. Hoping to hot gun with someone on an AR. Lookin at you, Gunnerlove ;) I'll drive, you bring the gat? I've got the pistol gear sorted now.

We ARE looking at putting these matches on over on the island as well! If you have a range that wants to host let us know! And that goes for any ranges anywhere from Vancouver to Alberta. Want a match? We'll drive it out, set it up and run it. All we need is the space. And ranges that do host make a tidy sum to boot. All good for everyone.

See it's that kind of thing that sets service shooters apart from the rest. No attitude and help if you need it. I just had a great time watching all the different systems operate! That T97 sure launches the brass eh? Awesome!

Everyone was really helpful from chatting about gear to the fellas behind me handing me a loaded magazine when I ran out mid-match. I don't remember everyone's name but to those guys and others that helped me out thanks! I was shooting the T97 and yeah it does like to spit brass hey? I was pretty happy with it overall and I can do better once I practice magazine changes and manipulating the safety better. If anyone is thinking of coming out with one it works well if not as fast-handling as an AR-15.

Good shooting fellas! When we begin shooting in the new year we will take your first score and stick you in a class so that you are competing against guys with the same kind of experience. So really no worries if you are near the bottom as we all had to start somewhere. Can't wait til the next one!
