I have an EOTech 553, which works great for CQB, but am looking for some help at the 200+ meter range. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I be looking into one of those flip-to-side magnifiers or is that just something else that could wrong on the rifle?

Willing to consider other options...

Thanks in advance,

ACOG TA01NSN or a 1X4 Nightforce, I have both now and both work well. I have not had the pleasure to use a Eotech yet so I would not know how to answer the rest of your question.

Hey Holter,

Hows about you just use the principles of marksmanship we have been working on and SUCK IT UP!

;)

I'm kid, you'll get an email from me soon on next Sunday.

I have an Aimpoint CompM4 but I'm planning to buy a 1-5x20mm rifle scope. My first choice is the Leupold M4 1.5-5x20mm and if I can't get that in Canada then I'll go for the Leupold VX-III in the same size.

I want to be able to shoot to 300 meters at the range.

I have to figure out how to deliver someone the *bird* on this forum... :p

It'll make about as much difference when you do it face to face too!

Seriously though I'm looking at trying to get an ACOG for my Carbine. Secifically the TA31RCO-A4 ACOG 4x32. No batteries and plenty rugged.

how much do you really need to spend ? ive got a Millet DMS-1 .. works on my m14 and doesnt lose zero.. works on my mossberg 702 .22 and doesnt lose zero .. cost me $400 here in nz .. but should be cheap for you guys ..

has a neat little reticle which is good for medium range because you just drop the circle onto the target and pull that trigger.. if its a person size target at 200m.. its in trouble

in saying that its got a 1moa dot in the center of the reticle so if you can see the target at 4x mag under that 1moa dot.. its probably in trouble

The RCO ACOG's are unavailable to Canadians, at least if you order one from Police Ordnance. They can get the TA31F, which is like the RCO except without the horizontal hash mark scales. The TA 31F was unavailable last year, guess they won't ship due to 'Military Priorities'. The US started using RCO's so now we can get the TA31F.

Since I couldn't get the TA31F, I ordered a TA33R8. 30mm, 3x with red chevron. It's smaller and has better eye relief than the TA31 series. Lots of guys on AR15.com prefer the smaller one to the TA31, but it does have a smaller field of vision.

I think the IOR scope is really neat, it has an ACOG like BDC reticle plus you get CQB and long range in one. It's also about $600 cheaper than a TA31F, and about $350 cheaper than a TA33R8.

Just monkeying around with optics to see what works best. If it's too much of a hassle I just sell it off... :)
