CQBR / Mk18 Mod1 Clone thread - Show us your clones!

Depends on color, fde you will be able to sell for more $ than black. Dd lists them at 445$ us on their webpage, and they are kind of hard to find so i would not let mine go for less than 400.

Obviously they are worth more to cloners, kind of overpriced old school tech to the average shooter.

Just my opinion

The DD rail is hardly old school tech, it is not cloned or borrowed because of the patent:

http://www.google.com/patents/US7716865

It is done the way so the impulse of M203 and any other "torque" will not be transmitted to the barrel nut. Most people don't mount M203, so they could get away with a lot of weaker things. And a lot of these 'weaker' commercial designs are taking 50% of the HK416 barrel nut system. They try to make it cheaper in some way and stay with the regular receiver, instead of having a male part in the hand guard keying into the female part in the upper.

I was cleaning my rifle after the range, and i thought it may be interesting to see how a stock DD MK18 has worn in now that shes seen a few thousand rounds. this is by no means a super high round count wear test, just how the internals are holding up. i have about 3500 - 4000 rounds though her, i never really kept track. all of the pictures are of upper receiver components, the lower had an after market trigger pack until about 200 rounds ago when i went back to the original "new" milspec trigger that came with the rifle. there was no real wear in the lower at all.

So far knock on wood this rifle has been 100% reliable. the only stoppages i have had have been ammo or mag related. anyway pictures.

Home after yesterdays cqb at valcartier, my bcg is also a dd about the same round count and it looks almost identical to yours WK.

I am really liking the extra riser under the exps3-0, thinking of going even higher like 3/4", this one is 1/2". Gives me a very comfortable shooting position.

I have some nice MK18 photos. Not sure how to add them.

create a flickr account. upload away. then you can just share vie the share icon which will create the

nice. just need to slap a Aimpoint PRO or M2 on that and youll be laughin. if you go to you picture in flickr and click on the third icon at the bottom right of your photo, thats the share icon. a window will open up, select the last option "BBCode"
there you just choose what res you wish to submit abd then you can just paste the link. it will look like this

Thanks guys! Yeah In terms of perceived weight or balance, I found that having the old waffle stock made a big differrence compared to the SOPMOD. That and the lack of Atpial-c hehe...

Or an Elcan :p your front sight looks a lot more tan than mine does. Mine almost matches the colour of my rail.

It might actually be the rail itself. I know that the tan on RIS IIs differs from batch to batch due to the anodizing process used.
