CQBR / Mk18 Mod1 Clone thread - Show us your clones!

3p would be the closest i think.

If you snapped a 4p on gunbroker i think irg could bring it in for you... but $$$

I figured the same thing as well, maybe talk to IRG about it. I know there are a few other companies that do that sort of thing as well, but their names get censored out here, lol!

CSC has a bunch of Surefire stuff in bound. Trainer cans, trainer BFA and FH.

Interested in the trainer cans, but I'd have to get a Surefire muzzle device.

Right now I have the KAC M4QD flash hider, and I bought it in the name of clone correctness. If it weren't for my OCD, I would have been fine with a standard A2 birdcage for less than $20.

But lately, I've been thinking hard about those Surefire trainer cans and I want.....what to do?

They will have the Surefire FH in the next week or two.

The whole "clone" spec thing basically requires that the items be original for maximum internet points. A direct copy of a SureFire 4P would not be manufactured by SureFire, thus not good enough for purists.

That's what I figured. No point in working out a solid model and code to knock them off in that case.

Good to know, it would be interesting to see if they bring in any of those trainer cans as well. IRG has them for $300 USD on their website, which works out to about $367 CAD right now (before taxes and shipping). That's a lot for a fake can, albiet one you can shoot while on the rifle (not like the airsoft junk I have which is only good for photos and nothing else).

I've actually see a lot of knock-offish 4 prong flash hiders. None of the ones I see have Surefire markings on them, and none of them are advertised as Surefire, but they are out there. Not sure I'd want to get one though.

Just to be precise, it is not illegal to import them into Canada it is illegal to export them from the US. Those are very different things.

Mark[/QUOTE]

Just to be more precise it is breaking U.S laws for a Canadian civilian to import ITAR restricted firearms or parts. There is a difference in ITAR restricted and just having the correct paperwork filed with the US and Canadian governments to import/export firearms or parts into Canada.
Whether you are in trouble with the Canadian or US government for illegally importing firearms or parts into Canada it is still illegal. Now possession is a whole different topic!

I trust that companies like IRG and A-Z-T-E-C are able to complete all the legal paperwork for Canadians to have certain hard to find parts, as long as the item isn't prohib in Canada (auto lowers, suppressors etc).

I'm sure there are other companies out there that have the proper credentials, ability and know-how to complete the proper documentation to get us certain parts as well.

The big hurdle appears to be finding a 4 prong. As some have mentioned, it's not easy to find one, even in the states.

You are still missing the detail that it has nothing to do with importing to Canada. It is exporting from the US that is the problem. The Canadian government has very lax rules about what firearms parts you can import and certainly cares nothing about ITAR rules.

I'm done with this, I don't want to further pollute OP's great thread with this.

Pavehammer you are right about that whole clone-correctness thing, but to a certain extent some people are not even trying and just because they have a shorty rifle they will say they have a mk18 clone.

I personnally gave up because i don't own multiple ar's and the mk18 model although very close to perfection, for me, was not perfect. Having said that it is still the best looking firearm there is and my personnal go-to gun still shares a lot of parts with the mk18/cqbr ie lmt sopmod, eotech exps3, surefire fh etc

On the subject of cansof builds i would guess the ONLY reason there aren't that many clones is because we don't know enough about them?

Get a Danish IUR and put a 12.5" barrel on it, and shove a SEI vortex on top. Voila!

Straying a bit off topic, but this would be something I would want to clone.

The flash hider Nordic Marksman has, but the sleeve looks like some thing that would be a pain to source. That and swapping barrels, lol!

The extension - the "Collar Adapter Extender" is from Allen Engineering, simply throw the Vortex onto the that and voila.

How long did it take you to prep for that photo op?

Lol, twice as long as it should have. Was at the playground with my 2 yr old and he came by and took a swipe at it. This was my second attempt, hahaha!

Mr. Donut, sweet find! It looks in much better shape than mine :)

Now lets see that ###iness on a firearm, with an impromptu photo shoot!

Haha, thanks :)

Have you compared it to the KAC M4QD? Likes or dislikes?
