CQBR / Mk18 Mod1 Clone thread - Show us your clones!

I like the 4P better than the M4Qd for sure. The M4QD is just an expensive A2 flash hider with groves cut around it so the suppressor doesn't stick and a cut out for the alignment. Sadly if its KAC its worth your first born. Top of the line tech for it's time though (I guess) lol.
I just tried the 3P with my NODs and it hid the flame signature pretty well and I didn't experience any washout. I haven't tried the 4P yet but the 4prong is supposed to work way better. I believe that is why CANSOF runs the Smith Enterprises 4 prong and the US runs the Surefire 4P.
My 4P sits on my Block II Mk18 which I don't use very often as it was too expensive to build and took years to find all the parts. I have other shorty's that I kick the crap out of that give me the same joy.

Ok, good to know, thanks for the info.

I was just trying to figure out if the huge dollars I paid for the 4 prong justify keeping it when compared to the not so huge dollars I shelled out for the KAC. I thought the KAC was retardedly expensive considering it's not much more than a ribbed A2 with a notch, but the 4 prong takes the cake.

Yeah, I have a 4 prong SEI for a future build, but waaaaaaaaayyyyy less money.

Will need to work to find the longer Allen Engineering collar.

If you figure out the collar please pm me as I have a couple of CANSOF builds I'd like to stick them on.

And if you ever want to trade an 3P for a 4P with some cash let me know as well. :)

I also wouldn't mind a lead on the collar if you figure something out Donut!

If I find a source, I'll post here for sure, but the question is, collar or extender? I've got the 15.7" upper like most people, so probably collar, but on a 10.5", it looks like an extender was used?

I'll have to decide how bad I want to do this because it seems like Nordic is fresh out of SAS 10.5" uppers.

Fairly positive the 4 prong from SEI is primarily used due to it's ability to accept the Ops Inc suppressors, likely less so due to being a 4 Prong vs a 3 Prong design. That being said, I've run close to 1k rounds through a 4 prong that I made and the effectiveness of 4 prong flash hiders on a 10.5" barrel is unbelievable.

I have a dumb question for you guys more familiar with the Surefire flash hiders, Suppressor trainers, Wardens, and other neat attachments. My 4 prong doesn’t have any teeth for the ratchet system, so how does the suppressor trainer or warden mount to it?

I still haven't mounted it, but I'll get around to it. My first speed bump was finding a wrench that fit the thing. I didn't, so I ended up bubba'ing (filing down) one of my spare wrenches to fit.

I'll have to find some time to take the DD handguard off so I can take off the KAC M4QD and spin on the SF unit.

Does your 4 Prong have the indexing tab @6 o’clock?
If so the Warden slips onto the device and the ratcheting is in the Warden(trainer) itself!
I would describe it as an oblong pressure retaining fit..lol..

The collar on the end of their devices is the ratchet. It also happens to sit eccentric to the bore of the suppressor (or whatever the device may be). When you tighten it, the ratcheting nut will draw the unit rearward against the taper on the flash hider, and the nut will tighten on the rear flat of the flash hider.

Its a chinese made copy, just a heads up. ** he does list it as an Invisble sight, which is correct.

A Chinese made copy for $1,000? Yeah, definitely thanks for the heads up!

I paid $75 for a Chinese copy and I thought that was a bit much, lol!

ETA:

I've never heard of Invisiblesight until just now so I did a little research. It's got some negative reviews on ARF, but one half decent review on Gun Owners. The owner of one on G-O-C stated that it held zero at 100m and 200m, and the IR illuminator was good out to 300m.

The funny thing was, it gotten several negative reviews on a Canadian airsoft forum, lol!

Shipped from HK, manufacturer claims that they are using a made US "Mil-spec" laser, whatever that means. It's advertised as waterproof but the manufacturer recommended against submerging the unit, though one owner on G-O-C mentioned that he used his for a prolonged period in the rain.

Someone who spoke to the manufacturer:

I have communicated with the manufacture on this and he did say his units are made to be close to the capabilities of real deal original DBal but admits they are not made for that standard in a sense but are more than adequate, in there words "there units are made to be very close at an affordable price" so far I can say this statements is very true and with a lifetime warranty I would not hesitate to purchasing from them again already. They spare no expense on packaging or unnecessary cost which is good to hear.

On another note, I mounted the 4 prong last night, will have to take some pics soon. As a result, I've been thinking long and hard about one of these:

Anyone looking for an A1 lower to build a clone? :)

Imagine building a Mod 0 clone using one of these lowers:

I thought about it as I have a Colt 607 clone on a a2 lower. After all the work for the stock I think I would be better off having my current lower re profiled. It has crossed my mind! Lol, I was just looking at it thinking Colt RO633 :) but I can't do that to my wife at this time. I was choked when she did not let me in on the 9mm Colt stuff that just went through Nordic. I literally watched them count down begging. Next year she said. Fawk
