How about making a massive scope base (picatinny rail) that has a transverse hole that matches up with the rear sight crosspin, in the middle of the rail, near the ends, would be 2 heavy grub screws (10x32 for example) applying downward pressure on the barrel, also near the grub screw locations would be 2 clamps that strap around the barrel (like jubilee clips)to apply pressure to counteract the force of the grub screws. The whole affair would be like a see saw and obviously only suitable for scout scopes with a bit more flexibility than existing mounts, and modifications required to the rifle would be minimal. Hanh? Hanh? your thoughts?
Edit: idk how you would set it up to be level from front to back though. . .
Further edit: I wonder if my SMLE #1 MKIII MOJO sight could be adapted to be the basis for such a scope mount?
