Crazy Mountain Lion hunt

I wasn't bashing it, one of my best friends is a trapper and I often go help him on his line. I was simply pointing out that you see no problem with trapping, but shooting an animal point blank with a 44mg is somehow unacceptable.

You are telling me that you have never come across a live animal caught in a trap? I will call BS on this one. Just like rifle shooters, not every trap fires true 100% of the time.

oh, but i do. I despise the actual killing of the animals, and infact dislike killing a moose. I kill moose for food, and if you were to hunt with me, you would see me pass up moose after moose after moose until i get the right one in the right time. Same with deer.

And no, I have never come across a live animal, but I have had a bad beaver catch under water, evident by a twisted line. I do not use leg holds, and I dont snare, although I am going to start snaring wolves, for conservation.

The problem with the "point blank" 44 kill is the poor marksmanship, and the ten minutes prior.... not to mention the actual act of the sporting kill

perhaps desensitizing will work, but will this change a mans morals?

Of course it will change a persons morals. You saw that video as sloppy (which it was) and the amount of shots you felt was immoral. But if you watced several videos of animals being taken in the same manner, you would come to realize that #### happens sometimes, and they did a great job in minimizing the suffering of the animal.

Running dear with dogs happens in ontario every deer season, and I am sure that there are plenty of gut shots where the deer took hours to expire....I would rather empty my mag on an animal then have it suffer due to a poorly placed initial shot.

trust me. I have been hunting for 30 years. I have seen my share of gong shows. no need for videos.

my morals are still the same as always. dispatch quickly with no prolonged suffering is not such a bad moral to have

No one is saying that is a bad moral. I'm saying that even you, the almighty meat hunter, will eventually #### up a shot. Guaranteed you will. And yes you feel like #### about it, but you dispatch of the animal as quickly as possible by using follow-up shots....I do not see how this is inhumane.

lol when that happens, you wont hear about it or see it on youtube haha

my problem is the dogs, the lack of experience (or so it appears), the video, and the meat wastage (assumed)

On you tube or not, it still happend...The fact that there is a video should not change your moral values on the subject

it doesnt change MY morals. i still find it distasteful whether i am there, not there, or see it on youtube, or not.

It sure gives environmentalists a lot of ammo though. If the seal hunt was never made public, you think there would be every tom #### and harry fighting it across the world?

The dogs: Been used for hundreds of years for hunting, we dog for yotes and deer here on Ontario :)

Inexperience: We all started somewhere, I'm sure you didn't pop out of the womb as an expert outdoorsmen.

The video: Documenting time in the bush with friends...I see no issue

Meat wastage: Not proven

Your right its not. And if you left it at that without all the other crap I would fully agree with you.

I love this site. I am so pleased I found it, but if I could criticize anything, it would be that a mans opinion becomes "crap" if not in line with certain peoples ideas.

Have you ever seen the movie, or read the book 1984 by Orwell? Its like having a "thought crime" when one speaks his mind here.

and we will have to agree to disagree.

And if there was a referendum on cougar hunting... I would vote to keep it (for your info) even though it is not my cup of tea

I honestly don't give a rat #### what some metrosexual city vegan thinks about what I do for sport and hobby. The seal hunt was always public knowledge, it wasnt until the latter half of the last century that granola groups decided that seals were cute, and #### tradition and #### the native's way of life/income. I shouldnt have to change because PETA loves sea kittens.

as I dont care about people finding hunting or trapping immoral.... or guns for that matter.

But.............

somethings can inflame the contesting views, and perhaps should be thought out a little bit better before putting it into peoples faces.

PS those metrosexual vegan pussies cast ballots....

Yep, there are certain areas that are no dogs, but for the most part you are good to go. Too bad for that pooch, my dog wears an orange vest and an orange collar with about 5 years of dog licenses and rabies tags jingling :)

Which is precisely why I wish you and others would quit representing a politically correct sugar coated version of hunting.

We hunt, we kill, we eat...Its that pure and simple and you can't soft sell it.
The "metro" knows you are lying to him if you give them anything but the truth so you better give it to him straight while confront him about his own killing by proxy.

You draw the line at mountain lion, the "metro pussy" at cows...Death is death and while we ethical few plan to expedite it, the end result is surely the same.

We need to educate based on well rounded reality.
Ever been to a slaughter house?
Nothing pretty there.

Fact...The shot went bad.
Fact...They finished the job without regard for personal safety.
Fact...They ate the pretty cat.
Fact...Cougars are tasty.
Fact...Cougar hunters eat cougars so save many cows every year....A huge thing in India....Where Karma definitely favors the cow?

Perspective is a very odd thing....Don't you think?
