Holy zombie thread from 2008 hunting season
It was a good year. I remember back then here in one could get an additional deer seal and find drugs in the woods. 2014, One seal and I have to go to town to get my drugs. Ahh, the good ol' days.....
Opening day moose hunt. Early morning, still dark, getting quad the off truck. I see 3 sets of 'green eyes' in the shadows. Eventually surrounded on 3 sides by these eyes. I thought they were coyotes or bobcats being curious, so approached one to run them off... my head lamp revealed a long tail as I got close - about 6 feet close... It flanks me. I quickly go back to tent and get 30-30 and blast rounds into the dirt in front of it and they all run off... I was surrounded by cougars. I think it was a mother showing her cubs how to hunt. Very freaky.
Sheesh you guys have me beat with your scary stories. So far my scariest has been driving down a hunting trail and going fetal position in the passenger seat as an Elk decided it wanted to make sure our windshield had a streak free shine with its face.
Next time you encounter a odd "character" or two in the woods while hunting and they behave strangely....when you get home have a look in your own mirror. I did this once and scared the hell out of myself! No wonder the other guys were evasive and didnt want to make eye contact!!
