The camuflage does nothing to promote the sport. If you want to dress like tactical ninja, there are plenty other places where you can do that.
I don't but it's my opinion that there has to be a clear and overwhelming reason to impose a dress code on a group of responsible, law-abiding adults. We're not in a Catholic school any more. Yes, there are plenty of other venues that don't treat their participants the way other entities treat hormonal teenagers and those sports haven't suffered. Social conservativism gone overboard doesn't have a place in sports. That doesn't mean that there is no place for something along the lines of 5.3.1 if the wording got changed to "inappropriate to the region".. Some examples:
-A shirt with a Nazi flag would not fly in Israel (or here for that matter)
-A shirt depicting graphic violence, #### or swearwords is not such a hot idea for any event where children are likely to be in attendance
-A shirt depicting a spit-roasted piglet might not be such a hot idea in Morocco
Wearing camo causes as much concern for me as a man wearing pink. Now, there are some regions where civilians are not allowed to wear camo, but our body of laws contains provisions for obeying all applicable local laws.
P.S. For my IPSC matches, I've gone for the 2bit Russian gangster look on the outside just to fit in with the "cool kids", but I may or may not have worn camo boxers. With that being said, any MD trying to unzip my fly should know I don't take kindly to ###ual harassment
