Was just looking through the EE and saw an ad from Bullseye about the preorder of this rifle
I’ve never heard of it before and it seems kinda interesting as it uses the benelli m4 operating system and stock but it says it’s gas impingement too?
Looks like it uses the crypto proprietary mags and the handguard
What are the thoughts and opinions of this thing?
It’s gotta be better then those semi auto Turkish made contraptions lol

Lots of people crap on Crusader reflexively. They really do need to work on their QC which is a totally fair criticism.

Given the insanely hostile environment towards manufacturers there's a degree of bravery in releasing a semi-auto for the Canadian market. Call it them trying to make a quick buck if you want but they are putting their own R&D money on this and taking on way more risk that any random gun owner in the country. Criticizing them for releasing a product at all is foolish and self destructive to the gun community.

Realistically it will probably be typical Crusader. Some of the Backlands they build will work generally alright while others will be total garbage.

If you are a hobbyist with a decent salary and money to burn, roll the dice and give it a go. If you want a zero risk purchase why would you be buying guns in Canada at all?

Take a look at the American Fightlite rifle - I expect it’ll be a variation on that rifle, except for the AR compatible upper.

Ironically, I always wanted a fightlite rifle, even before the ban. So I may give this a go.

It’ll use an AR style DI piston/ bolt, and the M4 recoil tail.

Being that it doesn’t have an FRT, I would expect the RCMP “lab” to ban it out of spite. In a “"how dar you thwart thee" ego fueled tantrum - They don’t like their imagined powers, to pass law, being challenged.

Then again, if their imagined powers aren’t challenged, do they become real?

But who cares anymore 🤷‍♂️

so now the M4 action will be banned..

why doesn't somebody just start making valmet knockoffs instead. at least that action is protected and likly harder to ban

The Valmet is a defacto AK rifle, already banned other then the two models: M78 and Hunter.
Only way to produce those is for Valmet to make more. (Impossible, I've heard)

Regarding the Backland, it'll be nice to have a NR FRT..... I'm guessing it'll happen.

I can't decide whether Crusader keeps releasing new NR guns to get as many semi-autos as possible into our hands as a service to us and a "#### you" to the govermnent....

...or if they're just trying to make as much money off of us as they can, while they can, selling us overpriced junk because they know people are desperate to get ANYthing....

....or both....

The crypto wasn’t bad if you built it. Other than some fitment and mismatch colouring it wasn’t bad.

I'm with you - the actual Crypto receivers were a bit inconsistent, but decent overall. I built a couple of Cryptos when the receivers first came out, just for fun, and they were good, functional rifles. I actually liked the receiver design - the way the upper and lowers mated was actually better than the ATRS or even original AR15 design IMHO.

That being said, would I want a Crusader gun assembled by Crusader, with all Crusader parts? Nope. Which is why I personally am not at all interested in this new rifle.
