Crusader arms backland

Factory ammo or handloads near the top of the data. For instance the load that failed today was 55gr Campro with 26 gr BLC-2. Bump that up to 27 gr and they worked perfectly. (Hodgdon data says 27.8 max load for 55gr FMJ bullet )

It’s only one grain of powder but it’s a significant difference in a small case like a .223. And there is no question the the shooter can feel the difference in recoil and muzzle blast
Any Chronograph data on the 26 vs 27 grain loads vs pmc or american eagle or some other generic 55 gr fmj.

Because science......

It'll be a few hundred fps difference. In a 18.5" barrel, my 55gr Campro reloads (26.5gr BLC-2 going 2890fps) are about 230fps slower than factory AE 55gr 5.56 (3120fps).

Another update ….

Today was another 230 rounds. 150 of full power handloads worked 100%. Tried out the medium power loads again to see if the extra “break in” had helped and to my surprise it did! I had a few failures with them but was much less often.

I have never liked the M4 twist out stocks so that’s an annoyance but yeah, I’m warming up to the gun.
