Crusader arms crux

Lots of reviews have popped up on Reddit, same old story. Don’t walk, run from these garbage rods

“ Mines currently back for warranty for the 3rd time cause it was chewing the bolt lugs all to ####. I was the one with the extractor problems. I don’t wanna be a Debbie downer but good luck i hope urs runs well cause mine has been a pain in the ass.”

“ A guys Crux .308 blew up, he just posted in the CCFR facebook group, the chamber is so sloppy that the brass expands 30 thousandths of an inch out of spec.”

Level of quality you can expect for 3k,

For $3500+ I expect fantastic machine work and build quality.

Then you ought to shop for a Lockhart Tactical RAVEN 308. The only problem is that they are not quite in production yet, and the company is about 2 months behind on filling existing RAVEN 556 orders. Not to mention their new "Silver" trim level, which also has yet to enter production despite sales dating back to November 23. Lockhart needs to make the leap, gather up some investors despite the risk, purchase additional machines and hire the operators necessary to significantly ramp up production while the market for their product remains hot. The time to act is now, Sam Lockhart!

Hold the #### up. That one was the customer's fault. He contacted Crusader Arms about the issue prior the failure and the company requested immediate shipment back for investigation and warranty. Dumbass went ahead and fired the gun again the following day after the email exchange.

I know of one that was shipped back 3 times for warranty for the chamber being out of spec. The fired brass looked like it came out of an old worn out enfield.

I bought one a year ago. Finally received it about 2 months ago. Took it out to the range and the extractor sheared the lip off after 10 rounds. The rounds were getting stuck in the chamber. Sent it back for warranty and just received it back last week. Will be trying out again on Monday to see if they fixed the issue. Supposedly they have a new bolt design that fixes the issue but I didn't think it was the bolt in the first place. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

4k is likely someone scalping.

IWI Tavor7 Black 7.62 NATO 16.5 Barrel $2024.99 USD for Import

2024.99 USD -> 2,768.26 CAD (today's exchange rate) + ~300 CAD for tax and shipping = 3,068.26 CAD

Using your numbers (agreed that's a great price and I said so on that thread) I get 3,128.13 Canadian dollars just with 13% GST. Add import fees, shipping rates...to your door is going to be closer to $4K than $3K. That's also a restricted length, I'd suggest a 20" model would run more than $3K Cnd.

Interested to hear how this goes for you. Good luck.

Well, I managed to get through 30 rounds. Mostly .308 but some 7.62 as well. The 7.62 fared better than the .308. Did not lose the extractor lip this time but the extractor still isn't working properly. The empty casings are still getting stuck in the chamber. Every shot was having the empty casing left in the chamber and the bolt tryiong to push the next round into the empty casing. I would have to drop the mag, clear the live round and then I could manually cycle the bolt to get the empty casing out although it was jammed in the chamber pretty tight. I'm in contact with one of the guys on Reddit that first got one of these rifles and he had the exact same issue. We are wondering if maybe they specced the barrels for 7.62 instead of for .308. Either way his rifle is back for warranty for the third time and it seems I have to send mine back as well.

I thought that the differences between .308 Win and 7.62x51mm Nato were similar to that of .223 v 5.56 Nato. Essentially the same cartridges, the Nato cartridges being metric equivalents to their American caliber cartridge.

I don't understand why anyone would make a chamber so intolerant that it couldn't properly chamber it's metric sibling or vice versa. Pics of fired brass would help, but you've either got a bad chamber (rough or too tight), or the extractor is weak.

It's curious that it initially broke, then after warranty, fails to extract. Almost like a far weaker spring was installed. If you put a round in the bolt head, under the extractor, can you shake the round off? It should hold tight.

If the extractor is tearing your fired brass, it's a chamber problem.

Sucks to have this sh1t happen on an expensive and new gun, but thanks for posting here enlightening the group. It's appreciated.

A rifle chambered as 5.56mm can fire both 5.56 and .223 ammo with no issues. But not the other way around. A rifle designed as a .223 should not fire 5.56 as the cartridges are ever so slightly different. The reverse is true with 7.62 and .308. Something to do with 7.62 rounds have thicker brass and .308 slightly more power and thinner brass. At least that was my understanding of it. The chambers are slightly different as well to allow for automatic use with the military round (7.62)

I have pics of the fired brass but apparently cannot post them until I contribute more.

The 7.62 empty brass was much easier to extract from the chamber than the .308 brass. There is some odd discoloration at the neck on the .308 that isn't showing on the 7.62 as well. Maybe a deformity in the chamber? I am going to dissasmble the bolt assembly before I send it back to check the spring and the rest of the BCG to ensure nothing did crack or break. Definitely did not notice any torn brass so that does not appear to be the problem.
