Crusader Arms Crypto

My buddies pre ordered first batch crypto. Runs stanag mags, hit crown land and ran through a case of 1k pmc bronze last week. Not a single failure. Using all stanag and 458 socom and 50 beowulf mags. This thing runs so good, just like my atrs. Building one with a stripped receiver set would literally give you an ar15 if you did the magwell mod and used good guts. I highly suggest people who haven't yet, to grab one. Sure the ano is kinda #### and crusader sucks absolute shiii, but grab a receiver set and build yourself that ar15 you are all missing.

Building one from a receiver is not the same as buying a complete rifle.

I won't comment on your dremel application.

I bought mine as a complete rifle and it works excellent. I have never bought anything from them before but this is a no brainer if you don't mind spending the money. Does it cost too much for what it is? Sure but what don't Canadians buy that isn't overpriced? Compare you cell phone cost to other places, compare gas prices ect. As far as the mag well goes if it is legal why not do it?

Nothing to comment about, this is straight from the Gov of Canada website

Former Bill C-21 amended the definition of "prohibited firearm" in the Criminal Code to add a new category of firearms that meet certain technical criteria. Firearms designed and manufactured on or after December 15, 2023, and that meet the following criteria are prohibited:

A firearm that:

  • is not a handgun
  • discharges centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner; and
  • was originally designed with a detachable cartridge magazine with a capacity of six cartridges or more.

A Crypto with a magazine well that's been "enhanced" still was originally designed with a detachable cartridge magazine that held 5 cartridges.

Im surprised that no one has done any accuracy testing yet. Also if I have a magazine with mine that does not work at all I will contact crusader and let you know if they send me a new one.

And they didn’t specify the magazine can’t be a variant(their favorite word) of any existing magazines. I think Dremel is a go.

Only thing is if they claim the crypto receivers to be AR15 receivers.
I agree so enjoy while you can. It's been made very clear that they will do as they please. If you think your single shot break action is not on the table you are fooling yourself.

Yes exactly my point. Wether the R18 Gen 3 has an FRT or not is irrelevant. It would be treated just the same as the crypto in an upcoming ban. You really cannot rely on FRTs.

What price range did it cost for him to build it out?

If you have a quarantined AR in your lockup, the cost is for the upper and lower receivers. Buying the receivers makes the most sense if you already have the parts to complete.
If you buy the receivers and then all the rest of the necessary parts, it might be better to just buy a rifle. There are a lot of parts to source, and supplies are not what they once were. Of course, if you assemble the rifle yourself, you have control over everything going into it. Could wind up with a premium rifle. Use economy Brand X parts and wind up with something that is ho-hum.

All ARs were restricted and thus most had 16" or shorter barrels. So add 18.6 (harder to find) or more common 20" barrel and HG and gas tube and very likely gas block. And some tools to assemble it. Quickly adds up.

Yeah it makes sense to buy the complete crypto rifle. I also believe that all the parts in it are mil spec

There could be a legal issue if a machine shop without a firearms business license takes in a firearm receiver.
