I bought crushed walnut shell media for my vibratory tumbler. I normally use corn cob but all they had was this. I ran my brass through it while I was at work. Then it came out sparking clean, but it has dust from the media on it. Anyone had this problem and a remedy? Also, the media turned black and looks unusable after one use lol

Always used corn media with the Dillon cleaner added. You don't have an air compressor?Get one asap:onCrack:
That only happens for a few times. You can use the walnut media for a long time, I've been using the Same media since Christmas ( about 3000 cases so far). Still comes out shiny.:) oops , meant to reply to OP.

Add a couple of fabric softener sheets or blue shop towels and a small amount of mineral spirits to the media. This will help pick up the dust and it will go away after a few loads.

After you run a few loads through the "dust" will dissipate. Also throw all nu finish in the mix and the dust will be gone plus the brass will shine. You need to go to TSC or Princess Auto and pick up some walnut media which will be finer and not plug primer flash holes. Good luck and have fun cleaning brass

Used dryer sheets cut up into 2x2 or 3x3 inch squares works for me. I usually put between 3-5 depending on the volume of dirty cases going in.

PS I got my Walnut media from amazon.ca

Just picked up a bottle of 'Nu Finish" and added a couple of capfuls to my tired walnut media. Really works great! If whoever has the shinest brass wins, then I guess i am winning.

I always sift my walnut media through one of the wife's fine metal strainers before i use it,gets a lot of fines and dust out beforehand. Also add nu finish, shiniest brass i ever seen out of a vibratory tumbler.

X2 I use the cheapest possible, a huge bag from a pet store, never had any problem in years. Like others I throw in a Bounce or any other anti static sheet and it really controls any possible dust issue !

Pet shops is where I get mine. I polished parts in mine and media was still brownish red. Normally would turn black.
