CSA Skorpion VZ61 22LR Reviews

It's a super fun toy. Not very good as a pistol (with folded stock) or as a shoulder mounted rifle. But awesome as a noise maker.
Use decent quality HV ammo and you can make it rain brass on your head, top eject is great!
Magazines are decent quality, hard to insert and remove, I'm hoping I can work them in.

Do you know if the wood grip from other VZ61s would fit this version? Assuming the long straight mag makes it not fit the holster while loaded, know anywhere to get the short 10 shot mags?

Fun little range toy and definitely a head turner!
Mags can be hard to load to max capacity. Also stiff to insert/remove.
Site sponsor Kelly's sporting goods has spare 20rd mags which are a good idea. I wish someone would come up with a mag loader.

Definitely glad I bought one.

Found some wood grips on the EE, but I believe corwin has them too. Also they have oversize charging knobs which are a nice upgrade.
I did have the paint/finish wear around them on mine after less than 500rds (first trip out)

Too bad it's a range toy only ...

I consider mine to be reasonably accurate, it had a few issues out of the box but North Sylva fixed it right up. RAE Industries makes a loader.

Wood grips definitely fit. TI has them in stock. As mentioned above, finish wear is definitely an issue. The cocking buttons on each side rub against the sides of the receiver cover.
Thanks HKNova6 for the tip on oversize cocking buttons. I was looking into making some out of delrin to alleviate the finish damage issue.
Thanks cdm123 for the magazine loader tip, will look them up.

I looked on their website and couldn't find it. Do you have a direct link or a Canadian retailer? PM me as hot links are allowed only to sponsors of the firum

There was a thread on here a few months ago, 6 ish? complaining how hard they were to load , so I reached out to RAE and they sourced a mag, none in the USA at the time and all the import bs. They eventfully sent me a tester, it works very well. I will contact them for order info.

Just got a Email, the loaders will be on the site in a few days mine was a prototype. The part number is rae 736.

Cheers! Website bookmarked and credit card ready!
Appreciate the effort put in. Thats why I live on this forum, people willing to help and give advice freely.

^thats me... rae 736 , got it. I toyed with the idea of making a clamp on scope rail work (inverted) as a mounting device for a fore grip, ( think mini saf) but has so far eluded me. I would like a stubby firegrip for coolness factor, but mag is tight and works just fine as a hand grip

Next semi-strange question: Will a 32ACP Skorpion mag seat & stay in a .22LR Skorpion? Not asking if it would feed, of course. Curiosity is one way to skin a cat, or something like that.

It should. The CSA Vz.61's all share the same receiver. You should be able to get a .32 or .380 upper and mags, and throw them on the gun. I've been wanting a .22LR upper for my 380 Scorp... They had them for sale in the US but I haven't seen any in Canada yet.
