CSA VZ 58 non restricted does not have chrome lined barrel!!!

I was about to buy a CSA VZ 58 non restricted, because I thought it had a chromed barrel, but apparently it doesn't! Two different sources confirmed they are not chrome lined. Apparently the VZ58 you can buy in the States is the "Sporter" ONLY version which is chrome lined, and you cannot even buy the 18.5" barrel version in the states. I am therefore guessing that for the Canadian market, CSA just gets the same barrels used in the CZ 858. This is hinted at the fact that the Canadian market CSA VZ 58 non-restricted rifles have a bayonet mount, which are illegal in the states.

Thoughts on this?
 
CSA VZ 58 uses the CZ 858 barrels?!?!

What makes CSA better than CZ 858? Would it be the machining details? The finish on them? More reliable?
 
The CSA are newly manufactured rifles, whereas some say the CZ 858 is new old stock. Furthermore the CSA have the tabbed bolt carrier, have synthetic parts (as opposed to the wood), and come in a nicer black finish as opposed to gray.

I just spoke with the Canadian distributor for CSA, and he confirmed that the unrestricted 18.5" barrel is not chromed, but that a chromed version is coming soon.

Question for you VZ858/CSA vz58 non-restricted owners: how is the barrel holding up? Rust? Wear and tear? Thanks!

Non-chromed barrels are fine. Have had two 858's, neither had a chrome lined barrel, both well used and never a problem. Do the usual soapy hot water bath with second clean bath and everything's A-ok. Frankly chrome isn't going to save you from having to clean, it's just "a little" better...
 
Chrome lined is nice to have but you will have no issues with non chrome.

I have thousands on thousands of rounds through my non lined and it is fine. Don't worry about it.

Chrome is good for full auto with standard 30 round mags and does help a bit with corrosion but the guns still need cleaning.
 
Actually I'm not concerned so much about rust, because I will never shoot corrosive ammo, and I will always oil the barrel.

My concern is barrel wear. Some say that non-chromed only last about 5000 rounds. Opinions on this?

You'll need to qualify your question a bit more to state what an acceptable accuracy level is for you.

IIRC, on a CZ forum I read of a fella (I think working in the firearms industry) ran over 50,000 rounds and still has 2-3 MOA accuracy. Contact CSA if this is a real concern to you and want a "real" number.
 
#### one of my best buds has a usual non chrome lined and he barely cleans his and it is good to go no problems. The chrome is for full auto.

Somes know nothing... The 7.62x39 is not a hot round at all, ours mags are limited to 5 rds so you would have hard time to wear out a non chrome bore. Non chrome bore will last 60 000+rds without problems.
