Hey just wondering if this looks like normal wear to you 06CE34C7-E9B2-4E7C-8223-815360164F9F.jpgguys. Looks like the bolt is hitting the chamber hard and is denting the left corner of the receiver above the chamber. The bolt carrier face is slightly raised on that side. I have several of these rifles I just looked and NONE of mine have any marks like that some from a few hundred rnds to several K through them

my cz858 was simmilar to this, very violent action. mine was chewing the reciever just above the chamber leaving two bite marks. hate to say this but its a crap design compared to a rotating bolt hence why they arent really that popular world wide

Hey

I’ve contacted north sylva and sent them some photos. Hopefully it can be fixed. Thanks for your help I will report back.

the wear on the receiver looks normal to me after some amount of rounds however the bolt impacting the chamber doesn't look normal to me.

CSA guns carry a 5 year warranty if I am not mistaken

Hey

So I contacted north Sylva. Thier smith said it looks like out of spec head spacing. What do you guys think? Is the head spacing too tight? Only way to fix it from what I could find is back the barrel out until it’s right.

The head space looks out based on the picture. The chamber opening should be flush with the receiver at the top of it.[SUP][/SUP]

If the guns still on warranty and you have less then 1000rnds thru it maybe i would get it sorted out. However i did check mine much more thoroughly today and did notice the same marks on mine. But not as intense. Mine probably has 1.5-2k rounds thru it. The brass and steel cases all come out normal. And the gun is SUPER accurate. Indicating that headspace is probably good. So the others could very much be right when they say it is kindov normal.

The VZ 58 used by Rob with AK operators union shows similar signs if not more extensive marring. But it also has 5000rnds thru it.

has anyone ever sent there gun in to north sylva? whats the turnaround time like ? I realize it would be a bit longer due the Canada post back log. also I may not be covered by sylva since I bought it used.

is there an easy way for me to verify head space on my own?

I would never send anything to North sylva. Their company is a joke. It will sit on a shelf for months and then they will send it back and say nothing is wrong with it.
With that said, it may be within spec still. The bolt carrier is still making contact with the receiver so the head space is probably just on the tight side.
If it doesnt fail to feed (bolt close on a live round) i wouldnt worry about it. Mind you im not a gun smith and its just an opinion.

Thanks for your input. This was my thinking as well and I don’t really want to send her to north Sylva.
