Hey quick question what pistols are in current service with the Canadian Forces? I have been trying to find out what they use so I might buy one for my self.

Standard issue is the Inglis Browning HP. MPs, pilots and some selct others use the SIG P225, there are also some SIG P226 in use.

Browing HP good to know, so pilots use the SIG P225 eh? Hmm I will have to look into this. What caliber are these chambered in?

This is a very good site, geared towards current and retired Canadian Forces Weapons Technicians.
Go to the tab labeled "Graphic Area", and click on the subject of your desire.
Some great pics of current and not-so-current weapons.
Also, you may want to check out the "Photo Albums" tab. There is some interesting stuff in there as well.:)

Anybody have a photo of a current CF issued Browning HP? Are they issued in different colors (ie: OD, black, tan)? Has the HP changed much over the decades or are they interchangable like the 1911?

Edit: Thanks Ontgunner - I can probably answer my own questions with the link you posted.

No colours, all park'd.

Interchangable within the Inglis line, but some parts are interchangable with commercial.

They are issued in any color you like as long as it's black. They are from the same manufacturing run that ended after world war two, no new ones have been made, so, they are interchangeable. They are well aged like fine wine. I'd have no issues carrying one in harms way, provided good magazines.

Just to stress what has already been said - the CF-issue High Powers are all Canadian-made
(John Inglis Company) pistols manufactured in 1944 and 1945 ... :dancingbanana:

A few months ago, I posted a whole swak of photos of current CF personnel in Afghanistan,
all packing Inglis High Powers ....

Yeah but they are kinda heavy.

Aren't the 226s' going to take over the browning soon?
Not any time soon, so far as I am aware .... About 1000 P225's were purchased in 1991, with few, if any, more acquired since then ... Maybe some 226's, but not a large number by any means.

Mind you, if a replacement pistol is in the works, as Savage indicates, don't hold your breath waiting for the Inglis pistols to become available .... :( The official policy of the Canadian government, for decades now, has been to destroy surplus arms rather than dispose of them on the market ....
